Is the Boheme a girl's pen?

I am a boy and I love the Boheme.

I am not planning on getting one... but wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with it.

I'm wondering whether it is in fact a women's pen.

I believe it was intended for the female market, yes.

Thank a Veteran.

As far as I know, the lip-stick mechanism is a recreation of the old safety mechanism.

Then it is a poor re-creation, Abdul. I believe we are in agreement with out preferences for other pens, although I am leaning more to the MB vintage pens these days.

I love the Visconti version of this. But the Metropolis is big enough for real people's hands wub.gif

Wow. Between this and the 149 thread, I'm almost scared of you.

I don't think it is a woman's pen. I would have one if I could find one at the right price.

You should see what I can do with large caliber delivery systems. :bunny01:

149s, Montegrappa Extras, Visconti Ripples and Romanicas, Bry's Deltas, silver overlay Krones, Conway Stewart Britannia and Churchills - there seems to be a pattern there... :hmm1:

Size is not the issue : I carry a Mozart, which is the smallest pen MB makes in my wallet. Useful for notes and general use on the fly. Many women carry one too. So? Style is another matter : I have been contemplating getting one in Platinum with leather on the barrel. However, I wonder if the leather will wear out quickly in India where we have vast temperature and humidity changes during the year? The Boheme also has some colours and styles that may appeal to women more than men. Take your pick.

The size of the pen may give it a feminine quality to some but I rather like the design I just wish it didn't only take cartridges.

After all its not pink with sparkles. Just be carefull which stone you chose or you may be considered more suspect.

If the Boheme was a man's pen it wouldn't have a "crystal" on it and operate like a lipstick.

They did make the "big size" one which didn't have the crystal and would be the one I would get if I could find it. If anyone asked about the lipstick mechanism, I would say that if you twist it one way you get a nib and the other way gets you a screwdriver...

Thats funny!! I just spat my coffee allover my key board :roflmho:

Bleck! I wouldn't have pink if you gave it to me. It makes me think of anti-nausea medicine. Yuck! Yet I know at least 2 guys positively dripping in testosterone who look great in it. Go figure.

For the last time - pens and colors don't have gender. It's down to the person wielding them. If I'm using them, they're a woman's pen in a women's color, whatever they are. If a man is using them, they're a man's pen in a man's color, whatever they are. If your choices can be dictated by some dweeb in marketing, then you weren't very secure in yourself to begin with.

I think the problem with color is that from the day you are born you are told and shown what is appropriate for a certain gender. Mothers did not put their young sons in a pink jumper or outfit as it was not appropriate in our society. To take it a step further some fathers would have had a flat out cow. So color and gender is engrained in you at birth. If society sees a manly man using a pink pen their 1st thought may be...Oh...he couldn't find his pens it must be his wifes. Or if he gives off doubt in masculinity then we know what some of them are thinking. Its just the way it is.

Excuses, excuses. My mom stuck me in blue because I screamed bloody murder and disrobed any time she dressed me in pink. My dad encouraged me to do anything I felt passionate about, whether it was a traditional activity for my gender or not. I refuse to be stuck in any one culture's box just because it's convenient for those too timid to think for themselves.

If I listened to "that's the way it is" I would have never piloted a plane, shot a weapon, gotten my doctorate, or walked barefaced, bare headed, and bare armed, holding hands with a certain delectable Middle Eastern male.

To misquote another woman - "Well behaved women don't make history"

Y'all can baa nicely and follow the herd. This predator is charting her own course. :meow:

Well written: "pens and colors don't have gender", only the persons using them and as far as I know, gender is non-transferrable to pens and colors (unless you are "some dweeb in marketing")

May you and those you love, be always blessed with peace and never ending joy.

"that's the way it is" has nothing to do with what gender pilots a plane it was was never implied to me atleast growing up a woman could not fly, shot a weapon, gotten a doctorate, or walked barefaced, bare headed, and bare armed, holding hands with a certain delectable Middle Eastern malle. none of this has to do with what i mean by "thats the way it is".

"That is the way it is" has to do with the way society has categorized certain things such as color in life. Not that it is right, not that I am condoning it, not that I don't know better, not thats its not narrow minded, not that one should not do what they are passionate about. None of that. Pink, will always be a color associated with femininity...sorry..Thats just the way it is!

Does that man wear that outfit because he is confident? On the contrary, he is not satisied with who he is and has to wear something pimp, fly, fresh in order to stand out from his peers. Much like the buffoon wordrobe of Don Majic Juan

Would this man in any of his past and present physical and political permutations...

Use this pen...

Why not? Because he's insecure? He's not confident enough?

Where can I get this pen? My 8 year old daughter and I were just looking at this thread, and she "has to have" this pink pen. This is not one of my normal smart-ass comments, BTW, and I don't want to get drawn into the pink/girl blue/boy discussion. I just want to find the pen.

I have the Boheme with no crystal and it's my go to pen at work, dressed in business casual. My 146 goes in with suit and tie. The colored crystal might make it too blingy for my conservative office, but your Boeheme has the black crystal which I think makes it a little on the masculine side and it would blend well in my work environment.
