Having read the last three postings on here I have told Henry, and he will be phoning Neal [who is the web-master for the web-site for Henry] so thanks on his behalf for bringing it to our attention.

Hopefully the problem will be sorted out soon.

Better yet, now there'll be contact thru his site so folks can get their pens if I'm AWOL due to travel.

Real life always is. Every time I write something from life, the editors rip it to shreds as "over the top, no one will believe this." :headsmack:

Agreed! That's one reason I love reading non-fiction books on obscure topics.

Going for the IB nib, too. Thanks for info, GP.

Button filler? How many buttons will I need? Won't the ink leak through the holes?

Nah. We're using stronger thread. :roflmho:

Spent the entire day editing 50 pages. Dunno why they call it "writing" when we spend so much time REwriting :bonk:

Part of what makes things 'good', or 'really good' is the attention to detail!!!

But we know that, don't we?

Only time will tell whether the extra effort was worth it. 'nuff said!

Your designers are studying filler systems looking for maximum reliability so that these will be daily users for years to come. Stand by for an announcement.

Okay. Massive technical discussions all 'round as there was concern the button fillers wouldn't stand up to the usage and feed requirements of the nibs most of us want on these pens. We wanted maximum reliability, ease of maintenance, no lack of service for pens going in constantly for fixes, and, most of all, performance.

If we'd stayed with the button filler, it would require meetings with Bock about converting feed assemblies. Being an old hand at prototyping for the military, I am only too aware of the high maintenance requirements of initial prototypes and custom built assemblies which require unavailable parts a few years down the road.

Therefore, a command decision was made and the Spirit of Life will now be a c/c filler which...wait for it...Graham certifies will be safe for use as an eyedropper! That gives the flow and capacity so many of us needed for the big nibs, yet lets us use standard Conway Stewart parts available for years to come in case of maintenance needs, rather than one off custom assemblies. In short, our pens will be reliable, with known feeds and assemblies, no after-market engineering to fix the feed problems of the button fillers, and are certified safe as eyedroppers, which prospect fills many of us with glee.

In short, these babies will be capable of heavy duty use for years to come with minimal maintenance AND provide the ink capacity dreamed of for all the IB and 2B nibs on order. :notworthy1: :notworthy1: :notworthy1:

God news from Henry's stand at Portobello today, He has spoken to Graham, and the base-pens will be worked on from Monday onwards. So after all the trials of the last 6[?] months, this could be [to quote the great man Churchill] "the beginning of the end."

Happy Days!!!

Just to show that I can be serious sometimes............here is a link to an interview with Henry for Conway Stewart's Collectors Club Monthly Magazine http://mvburke.com/collectorsclub/july2010/henrysimpole.htm in which he talks about the Spirit of Life pen and the work it has taken! Neal had posted this link on the other Henry Simpole thread - but I thought it was so good it could be posted twice!

Enjoy!!! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:
