Just a reminder to folks that I'm going on travel soon, so if I don't appear for a day or two, contact Henry directly when we get to the purchase stage.

He's going to need real world names, street addresses, and phone numbers for FedEx. You'll get payment information from him.

Hoping to be here long enough as I'm dying to have mine before I go :gaah: If not, it's safe with Henry.

I'm hoping! Trip is going to be even harder work than the bathroom remodel was, but hopefully worth the effort.

I'm saving the info folks are sending me, as well as forwarding to Henry, in hopes the redundant effort at redundancy means we don't lose anything. :headsmack:

The 'Spirit of Life' pen overlays are now with Graham in the West Country, he will be sending the first completed pen to Henry, so that it can be photographed, and posted here on this thread, for the benefit of everyone who has shown an interest in buying one. With a bit of luck it should appear here within a week!

By the way, is everyone aware that the plan is for this to be a button filler pen? :ltcapd:  :puddle:

Henry has decided to push the boat out on this one, the packaging will be in a polished wooden box, which will be set into the back of the chauffeur's seat of a Phantom Rolls Royce Motor Car!!!

He feels that this might detract from the original idea 'that a good product doesn't need unnecessary over-packaging', but that this could be possible for the additional cost of approximately £750,000!!!

Anyone who feels that this might make the price a little 'eye-watering' can make their feelings felt by going to :-henrysimpole.com

SEE Y'AWLL!!!

P.S. Has anyone heard anything from George?

Too plebian. I need a Bugatti Veyron for mine. :roflmho: Besides, it's already been done by a certain bespoke gun company. Don't remember which Top Gear episode I saw it on.

What if we went for our own bespoke airplane to go with the pen? :eureka: :bunny01: :ltcapd:

On a more serious note, the button filler is an excellent choice to support the nibs many of us are selecting - IB, 2B, etc. Better, more consistent ink flow than the c/c fillers. And lever wasn't possible with the overlay. :headsmack: See, we THINK about these things.

It's not just a big fancy pen, it's designed to be USED and loved and perform.

As far as I can tell, the initial run is now sold out, but that shouldn't stop folks getting on a waiting list against another casting. Or if an original buyer falls thru for whatever reason. We'll take it up with Henry once the first batch is safely distributed. So don't dispair if you missed out on the first run! :gaah:

Hhhrrrummphhh! For that price I want a REAL Roller, not some Phantom of someone's imagination.

Oh, and the agony! What nib? Are Oblique Broads available? [Present company excluded:ltcapd: ]Can you link me to a Nib Size site, please?

No obliques. From their website: Conway Stewart fountain pens are available in a wide range of nib sizes. In standard nibs we offer Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad & Double Broad and in Italic nibs - Fine, Medium, Broad.

I love both the 2B and IB nibs. :cloud9: If you want line definition, go for the IB.

With the exception of one person who now has increased her order up to three Spirit of Life pens, there seems to be some disquiet amongst the people who placed orders for one of these pens, it seems that the increased cost due to the extra packaging is not thought to be practical, partly because the length of the car in question is about 22ft long, and over 7ft wide, considerably longer and broader than your average garage space! Henry's reaction to this slight oversight on his part, he has decided to compromise, and revert to the original white cardboard outer boxes that usually houses the polished wooden boxes!

Henry sincerely hopes that this will not upset anyone living in Tasmania who wanted three SOL pens!!! :roflmho: :roflmho: :roflmho:

See Yawll !!!

Still no word from George.

Some people could not be accused of verbosity!!!

Just thought I would bring you up to date on progress of the Spirit of Life pens. There is slight concern about the feed-flow, [when filling the pen] Graham feels that the rubber sack is not as powerful as a filler-unit when the filling procedure is done. This shouldn't be too difficult to overcome, just an adjustment to the flow system of the feed, but Graham has agreed to contact Bock to find out if the problem can be overcome.

No doubt all will be revealed in the fullness of time! Patience is a virtue.

The good news is that everything else is going ahead as planned!

See Y'awll!!!

Noooooooooooo! The feed and fill is all important, given the nib preferences of many. We want wet, luscious, effortless performance for countless years of use :notworthy1: :notworthy1: :notworthy1:

Not asking much, are we?

I can confirm that talks have been taking place between Graham, Henry and Bock with regard to the feeds to be used in the SOL pens. Progress is being made, and a solution will be found very shortly.

As Ghost Plane has already said, with the number of people who want one of these pens usually using broad/er nibs, it is absolutely 'vital' that the feed can supply the amount of ink required when the pen is in use, because if it cannot do that it will 'skip'!!!

No doubt it will be sorted out very soon.

Nice to have folks responsive enough to pay attention to real world use requirements. Don't need these babies going in for constant maintenance if they're intended as constant users. :headsmack:

Can anyone else access Henry's web site? I tried to take a peek today, but it's not working for me. I get some sort of weird beige and green page with stuff about baby naming and a photo of a woman's face. It kind of looks like a giant advert.
