Kudos to Neal and glad to hear the script is as it should be.

As to fund raising, I suspect some folks might be willing to toss in a little to make me stop dancing... :hmm1: :bunny01: :roflmho:

No G.P. you've got to keep dancing, that's part of what makes the world go around!!! You and your little fluffy white rabbits wiggling their bums about!

The calligraphy department of the Spirit of Life pen has given the go ahead for production to continue, with seemingly only minor alterations to the 'script'.

If I knew how to use those little white rabbits, I would do loads of them, doing cartwheels, and playing leap-frog, and wiggling their bums!!!

I can tell you there is great relief in Henry's workshop, knowing that there is now no need for a remake of the barrel O/lay.

Truffle Finder,

P.S. Seeing as it's the 1st of the month tomorrow, WHITE RABBITS! Lots of them!!!

If you're using the fast reply editor, just click on the smiley face to bring up the emoticons panel, then click on the bunny.

All I can tell you is that the 'script' has been checked for accuracy, and it is good, [not 'perfect' but good] Neal went to a great deal of trouble to get all the images done to the degree of 'detail' that was required for the calligrapher to check the script.

Well done Neal!

Truffle Finder.

As it should be, for we are mere mortals and not the perfection of the holy one. Can't remember which religions say this at the moment. [it's pre-coffee drug]

And, since it's the first of the month, and as much as i dislike emotions, the cute little bunnies are an exception.

edited to add: hey, wow! these bunnies show off their bunny bums!

Many Religious groups say that only God is Perfect - Quakers and Amish come to mind for me, just because of the quilting and furniture making!

White Rabbits back to you all..........and today is my late Dad's birthday, he would have been 87 - Happy Birthday Dad! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

Glad to know you've found the secret of the mystic bunny dance as the construction phase of the bathroom renovation begins in the morning and I suspect I'll be off line awhile.

It's up to all of you to keep the bunny line going until the dust settles.

Well, you know how bunnies are if you leave them alone...

Demolition begins any minute here. Keep an eye on Henry and the pen while I go deal with the dust bunnies in the walls. :gaah: :bunny01:

I just discovered this thread. What is the basis pen that will be used to put the overlay on? Is there a description of it somewhere?

We're using a button filler Conway Stewart Churchill in black. If you're not familiar, have a look in the Conway Stewart forum. Lovely pens. I'm partial to their IB nib myself and have several without overlays.

Notice elsewhere on the board that CdA is prototyping a calligraphy pen, but ours is much more beautiful :cloud9:

More exclusive, too! :bunny01:

Here are initial roughs of the overlay. Please keep in mind that Henry hasn't smoothed, polished, or done anything else. The calligraphy is still very rough. This is the master and it still requires a lot of work. But it gives you an idea how the calligraphy is placed.

I've been watching a program on the BBC about great scientists of Britain, and they were talking about how two great people [a man and a woman incidently] had worked out that the DNA was found to be a double helix [or spiral] in shape,It dawned on me that the Spirit of Life pen O/lay has two spirals running round it!!! It is strange how sometimes things happen that were not necessarily planned that way, [or in this case

by accident!] it was only when Henry was at the stage of engraving the script that he realised that he had made two spirals!

I think that it is extraordinary that this coincidence should happen on the 'Spirit of Life Pen'.

"And now for something completely different!!!" [Monty Python's crept in again!]

Bunnies and DNA somehow go together. :bunny01:

This whole project has been a series of serendipitous events. :cloud9:

Hi GP! Yes, I did see that someone else was thinking of something a bit similar, but I've been away from my desk, and now have my annual dose of the flu - so will be absent for most of the time until I beat it into submission!

I love the examples, but would also love to see a shot of the full overlay - from further afield, so to speak - is that possible Neal?

All in all, one stupendous piece of Art! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

Thanks to all concerned so far!

I can't say enough good things about Salman Khattak, our calligrapher. I'd never "met" him before, but I saw something he'd posted on here and really liked it. I emailed him completely out of the blue, expecting him to be dismissive or incredulous. Instead, he very patiently "listened" via PMs and email to my halting attempts to describe what I was after. And then he said, "Send it to me."

The man is a fellow poster on FPN with a very real day job who does calligraphy as a hobby and student of the art. But he saw how important this was to me. Somehow, across the miles, he caught my dream and made it possible for me, and now for all of us. What a rare gift!!!

If you all had any idea the amount of time and patience he spent on this project while I tried to describe an amorphous vision, you'd be amazed that he didn't toss this back in my face. After all, I, a total stranger, was rejecting some truly beautiful efforts and inspired ideas. I still think one would be lovely on a wall - it simply didn't bend around a cylinder to give the proper effect on a pen. What none of you saw were the multiple efforts on his part, trying various designs and scripts. Until suddenly there it was - the one even an illiterate like me who doesn't read Arabic could look at and say "That's it!" :eureka:

I want to make sure Salman is recognized because he's one of those rare souls who can grasp the importance of someone else's dream and help them achieve it. His family is very blessed! :cloud9:
