Didn't get home until after midnight so the WS [writing sample] is an ASAP unless today gets FUBARed which is military slang worse than SNAFU :headsmack: [And no I am NOT translating the last two - not FF (family friendly)]

Second picture - same verse, same nibs, but the new 85g Habana with narrower lines.

You get a lot more on the page, but it seriously slows you down if you're using larger nibs.

OMGoodness! I am so in love with the IB lines..... :puddle:

That Eclat Saphir looks quite luscious....

Have they discontinued the wider-lined Habanas?

Thanks for the eye candy GP! :bunny01:

Yes they did. And changed the paper color to cream and the paper to 85g from 90g. Click on the link in my signature and check my review.

Wow, that really turned out to be quite some pen!!

Thank you. The verse in the Habanas is the English version of the Arabic calligraphy on the pen. :cloud9:

Quite disappointing changes in the Habana. Are cream/ivory papers greener to produce, or more cost efficient perhaps? And not carrying the lines to the edge....what's the reasoning there? I have no issue with the narrower line spacing, as my scrawl is smallish and I use mostly medium-sized nibs for journaling. But bleeding through with wetter inks is a deal breaker for me. I think I will try to hunt down the older stuff, or just use a competitor with white heavier paper. Sad really....if if ain't broke....yada yada....

Thanks for the review....and the video underneath it.... ;)

Still haven't gotten to the Namiki Falcon BB next to the Spirit just for giggles. That will be a hoot! :headsmack:

Thank you GP!!!

Does this mean you have two Spirit pens - or just switched nibs???

Methinks the former, somehow!!! :notworthy1:

Both samples are lovely............which do you prefer???

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

Two pens, actually. One was acquired for a certain somebody - 'nuff said. ;)

Both are excellent. The IB gives that awesome line definition, wetness, and "softness" and is a favorite of not only me, but a certain left handed overwriter. The BB gives incredible speed on any paper with any ink, which makes it perfect for daily marathons. I wanted a pen I could use every day for the rest of my life and this is it. The more it tarnishes, the better the calligraphy stands out, which was the point of the pen.

I buffed up one with a polishing cloth for the review pics.

Yes! Lovely pictures of the pen, and the writing examples.

I'm pleased that you are pleased with the pen, it makes the 'long haul' all worthwhile!!!
