Spirit Of Life design by Henry Simpole

Thanks. I console myself that I run a distributed computing program on my computer that donates spare cycles to universities working for a cure. Google the Word Community Grid website if you're interested. Been doing it since 2001 and it's pretty idiot proof software that works in the background when your machine is on.

My mom's been in icu going on the fourth week. Met a pen friend here and it was really a good break from everything. Thoughts go out to the family of your friend

One of the few bright spots is that her grave will be in the same cemetery as my parents, so I can leave flowers on both when I go.

Thanks all. Hope you all get through what you have to get through too.

Funny and perhaps appropriate that this all comes in under the title Spirit of Life!

I've been telling my mom, a former teacher, that the whole world is open to her if she just embraces the internet. FPN is my example.

Little did I know just how much even simply joining the FPN can quite literally change your life.

It certainly has done that!

When this thread started, I had no idea just how long it was going to take to actually work out the design of the pen, then there was the communications between the three of us working out the script for the spiral decorated prayer. I really had no idea that it would take the best part of a year, but it did, and the really strange thing is that it didn't seem like that long at all.

  • 4 weeks later...

For those who can remember the problem with Miranda's SOL pen nib, and the subsequent distress caused by the replacement nib unit not fitting the section, it appears that Andrew Gray of Old Post Office Pens did receive the pen and has sorted out the problem.

I would like to thank him for his help in solving the difficulty, and Mary Burke for offering to sort the situation out as promptly as she did. I really do appreciate their efforts.

It's always nice to be able to pass on good news in this day and age, where so much is not as peaceful as it could be in this world. It would appear that the Spirit Of Life has indeed shone through!

Well, there is a God in Heaven.... Glad that's all been sorted....

Now can we possibly enjoy some writing samples from this incredible bit of artistry? Several persons in this forum are possessors of this masterpiece of development, coordination and production....Ghost Plane can't possibly be the only one with writing/scanning/up/downloading skills who could let us sample its potential.....What say ye keepers of the SOL , one and all? :puddle:

And BTW, GP....You're still on the hook..... ;)

God is seldom early, never late, and always on time.

Not the Spirit of Life pen business - but if you are interested in photos of a new design by Henry, I've just posted photos of it for him here - https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/126530-has-anyone-heard-of-henry-simpole/page__pid__1925758__st__800#entry1925758

The people from 'Health and Safety' have been in touch with me. [sorry about this!]

I have been informed that they are concerned about the excessive size and weight of the Spirit of Life pen. Which to quote the missive that I have received: "Might cause repetitive strain disorder to some users of the said writing instrument!"

They have asked me to contact everybody who purchased one of these pens, and to ask them to fill in a 'Dangerous Writing Instrument Form', or DWIF for short!

I haven't actually seen the Form for myself, but from what I gather, it shouldn't take more than an hour to fill it in!

Each owner of the SOL pen will be receiving a copy of the form in the very near future, and I do hope that you will co-operate with these people, as we all know how awkward the little men with peaked caps can be when the mood takes them!

I am sorry to be the bringer of bad tidings, but when the department of 'Health And Safety' tell you that 'you must', you must!!!

:P :clap1: :ltcapd: :roflmho:

As one who received this pen as a gift, I would have found this news disturbing, to say the least, as I use my hands to make my living. Fortunately, the dancing figures at message end gave me a sigh of relief at remembrance of April Fool's Day. :headsmack: Cute!
