Pen Stands

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to find some Pen Stands for my desk on this forum, with no luck so far. Could anyone please share the pictures of their pen stands, nakaya pillows here. Thanks!

I don't have any photos, but I got a very nice pen stand from woodcraft.com. It is clear acrylic and holds 7 pens. It was about $16.00 I think. :)

Swisher Pens also has some nice acrylic pen stands, your choice of number of pens. Here's a pic of mine, a cologne bottle where the top is cut and sanded down smooth.

The Fountain Pen Hospital, in NYC, has a very nice 12 pen Mahogany Wood stand in their catalog for $40. A little pricey, but it is tiered and very simple, displaying the pens nicely and taking very little desk space. It is just a block of wood with 12 holes, no supports. I plan on getting it.

Followed Lorna's suggestion to look at woodcraft.com and noticed the pen turning blanks and kits. Anybody made their own pens before? I think it would be so cool to make my own pen and would love to hear anyone's experience and perhaps see pics of the process and end product.

I actually make my own pens. Have been for a little over a year. Then I started making fountain pens and found this site. If you decide to make your own pens have plenty of money. The initial cost to get started is fairly high. And costs more as you make different types of pens. There is a site that has a lot of info on penmaking.

I had a couple of old glass jars that I found in my field. They have seams on the sides, and a smooth lip. My guess is that they were cream or buttermilk jars. In any case, they now have a new life as pen stands.

I use Toothbrush Holders they are inexpensive and readily available at local discount stores.

Certain ones are quite good looking when filled with pens. Of course they only hold four. Checkout the

picture on "penspouse" reply.

Where did you get that? I've been contemplating buying a set of monkies (I forget the correct name for them) but that looks like a great compromise and adds functionality to a concept I already like.

 

This thread has inspired me to make a penstand. I'm thinking something similar to the Japanese 'rests' (akin to a scaled down sword rest). Depending on how adventurous I feel I might try and make it including an ink bottle section -

 

Perhaps one designed for the iroshizuku bottles seeing as they're so beautiful. Two sitting side by side to the rear of a double tiered-level rest for two pens infront on a heavy wood base. Hmm. Something that will go well beside my homemade insence catcher.

1. Swisher - they have some nice pen stands you might be interested in

2. penrefillsnow.com as they have a nice selection (fantastic service and response time)
