A true Burgundy … "Binder Burgundy" ... uh-huh

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! That's a real burgundy as opposed to the crimson that MB sells or the Montegrappa version.

Love it. Now, if we can only convince him to sell us a quart or two.

Just a ending note to the new members who might be reading this for the first time like I just did.

Diamine did come out with a very close Binder Burgundy color a couple of months later! It's called Diamine Syrah!

FWIW, I did the chromatography to ensure that Diamine got the hue right with Syrah. They got the color about 2% richer in saturation, but the hue is dead on.

I've got my Binder's Burgundy ink components ordered, along with the empty bottles. Tomorrow, I turn in grades for the summer term, and will commence working on Binder Burgundy ink bottle labels.

Well i made the ink today with the new waterman purple and it seems a little brighter than the original. More purple. Could have something to do with the fine nib i was testing it with. Still a great color!!!

Tender Purple = Violet. They only changed the names and labels. It'll be your finer nib which gave a lighter/brighter touch.

I made this mix about an hour ago. It is exactly the color I wanted. Thanks Mr. Binder! When I started looking at fountain pens last month I thought that burgundy would be a great color for me. I bought a Noodlers burgundy which is a very nice color but it's not burgundy. I have some samples now and when I write with some of them, they are quite far from the color advertised. I guess color is pretty subjective unless you bring it down to wavelengths and such. Anyway, I'm having fun with it!

Stunning question. Answer: "Yes".

 

Paper: Rhodia 80 g/m².

FWIW: current prices at The Goulet Pen Co say: Binder's = $0.22 per ml, and Noodler's = $0.14 per ml. But I still prefer the looks of Binder's.

The Binder's is a little richer, perhaps, deeper? Red-Black seems like it has more shading though.
