A true Burgundy … "Binder Burgundy" ... uh-huh

Thanks from me as well. They say simple is best, and this is a living proof it can be the nicest as well. I don't have any Skript Red at hand right now, but I'll give it a try with Waterman Red and start looking for a bottle of the Skript.

Waterman Red has a slight orange cast that will mask the blue undertones.

And thus is born "Binder's Burgundy" which shall become legendary. PB2, what pen/nib did you use for your OP ? Beautiful penmanship. Beautiful color. Thanks so much, Richard.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Thank you again for the warning and the recipe. Beautiful color, and bright mixing idea, Richard. Off to try to fetch Skript Red.....

Finally a use for my bottle of Skrip Red!

I (luckily enough) ordered a bottle of Waterman Purple from Swisher last week. I hope it comes today so that I can whip up a batch of this lovely Burgundy... and make some more Blurple! Thanks for sharing your inky recipes, Richard! :D

I guess I'm buying two new inks. Definitely worth it to get that beautiful burgundy color. Thank you again for sharing, Richard.

Thanks ~ The pen is a Conway Stewart 15 with Pendleton Point flex~italic. Sweet as a berry!

Not for sale, it will remain my Binder Burgundy exclusive.

Okay, okay, okay, I'll spill it (so to speak).

We're not able to carry inks for sale, so it's a recipe, not a bottle. I've never been enthusiastic about mixing 3 drops of this, 7 drops of that, 18 drops of the other, and so on, so my recipes are simple. My aim here was to produce a burgundy that has blue undertones like those in real wine, not brown undertones like those in most commercial burgundy inks. Binder Burgundy is a 50/50 mix of Waterman Purple and Sheaffer Slovenian Skrip Red.

Awesome! Now all I need is Waterman Purple and I'm good to go...

Blurple was too light for my tastes but this burgundy is just fine. But I avoid Waterman inks because of bad fading experiences.

So: how fade-proof is this mix?

Have tried a mix of Diamine Imperial purple and Diamine Monaco red (no Sheaffer red available). Looks very nice.

Now I know what to do with the 95% full bottle of Imperial purple

I was just planning on trying exactly that mix tonight! I've got a half full cartridge of Diamine Monaco Red (that I don't really like) and a bottle of Diamine Imperial Purple (that I don't really like). I've also been thinking about trying a mix om Diamine Ruby (that I don't really like) and Imperial Purple to try to get a somewhat "Cassis" looking colour.

Awesome. But how readily available is the slovenian Skrip. Have never got into Sheaffer inks. Maybe this is a push in that direction.
