make your own, it's fun. and if you use a noodler's black it'll leave behind a trace when you spill your tea all over it.

Not a bad plan. I've made my own with Noodler's Black and Hunter Green. About a 1:4 or maybe 1:3 mix, IIRC. Still have a Preppy about half-full of it. Looks great, flows great, 100% bulletproof.

  2. Noodler's Sequoia
  3. Noodler's Zhivago

Also Herbin Vert Empire (less saturated and slightly lighter) or Private Reserve Ebony Green (more saturated but also like a more brilliant dark green) are nice choices.

I have not tried the new Noodler's Bad Green Gator green in a pen yet but from the first impression it is a nice dark green (more towards a blueish green while both Sequoia and Zhivago are leaning towards an olive green).

Cheers

Michael

Oh wow! I've been hoping that Noodler's would finally make a green that was more on the blue side than the yellow side. I think that's going on my list.

Who are the pen shops in your neighborhood? Find out or tell us where they are, at http://penshops.info/

I found this scan a while ago:

Noodler's Bad Green Gator

and I think the color pretty much looks like the real thing.

I like Diamine Sherwood as a nice dark green. It's darkness really depends on the fine or broadness of your nib though.

Never did understand why nobody ever mentioned Diamine's Racing Green. (An exclusive of Diamine's but only available from missing pen).

When did Rolf start selling Racing Green? This thread started in 2010 so it may have preceded the availability of the Diamine Racing green.

By the way I couldn't access your link, perhaps you meant this. Missing Pen

I have mixed my own favorite green/black from 50% Skrip Emerald and 50% Pelikan Black. To my eye it's the perfect dark green and I use it in both a green striated Pelikan M600 and a green Omas 360.

Diamine Green-Black is my current favorite Green-Black. Zhivago and Sequoia are good suggestions, too.

Agree -- Diamine Green/Black followed by Noodler's Zhivago.

I always get a kick out of these "no affiliation" notations when it's blatantly obvious the poster has absolutely nothing to do with the brand, company, etc. beyond being a customer. It must be a feel-good/feel-important thing. So I'll note up front that nothing I write here on this forum is influenced by any financial-gain motivation.
