No. Only black with gold trim. The 1950s 149s did have two silver bands flanking the center cap band, but the pen has only been made in black celluloid or resin.

You will see some 149s, especially barrels and caps that have been modified by pen makers with different colors. There are a couple members here on FPN that have had their 149s replated with rhodium trim for the "platinum" look.

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.

Thanks. I follow the markets pretty closely and I don't think I can remember ever seeing one...probably a good indication right there.

[sarcasm] If they thought it would help their sales, they'd say they were made on the moon; the Burgundy side of the moon [/sarcasm]

Of course it was produced in burgundy - much late to this party but I can't believe this was missed all those years ago.

149 has never been in burgundy. Only black with gold trips, demonstrator in clean acryl, solid gold, gold plated ( not sold, they were templates used in the shops to sell the solid gold ) and now there is the coral 149 traveller.

and than there is of course the skeletons.

This is correct.

Max Schrage and Tom Westerich made 149 replica’s but none of them were burgundy.

@Opooh As well as the blue (not burgundy) Orient Express 1883 released last year:

I thought one of the 100 year editions had a slightly different finish but it may have just been a fancy form of black.

@mulrich You are absolutely correct:

The Origin Collection 149 is “expertly crafted from black precious resin, [and] the cap features a fluid pattern [also referred to elsewhere as “ink effect”] inspired by early designs, representing the dissolution of ink onto paper, elegantly contrasted by platinum-coated fittings [including cone and derby band at captop].”  This is a variation on the regular production 149 in black with platinum-coated fittings.
