Blue-Black Ink

I tend to prefer vibrant colors, but Noodler's Blue Black is one of my favorite inks.

It has a vintage look and provides lots of variation. If used in a wet writer it becomes very dark, if used with a dry one it is noticieable lighter.

Besides that, it has all the nice properties Noodler's inks have.

I like it very, very much.

Everyone, thanks for your comments and suggestions. Filled up my Sheaffer Intrigue with legal lapis this morning, nice dark color to it. I have not used it in for a long time and forgot I had it in my ink stash. I will definitely need to try some of the suggestions when it comes time to buy more ink.

I'm with Taki on this one. Indigo is my current blue-black favorite although I have many from which to choose. Vintage describes it well. But yesterday and after hearing tons of good things about Prussian blue, I ordered it from James. Time to see what all the fuss was about!  ;)

.

I'm so glad to find another person who likes Indigo! :bunny1:

I bought a bottle of Prussian Blue, but it was too blue(navy blue) for me.

Hi Taki!

Have you tried adding a bit of water or another ink to Prussian Blue? You might discover a terrific shade that would be uniquely yours. Then you can post a review of Taki Blue. :)

Anyone know how water-resitant Quink Blue-Black is? What about Waterman Blue-Black? Sheaffer blue-black is very water resistant, but too black for my taste. I would love a semi-water resistant blue-black to use in a Vintage sheaffer vac-filler. The center-feed is very fine and was a bit off-kilter, which I adjusted - but the pen is still extremely clog-prone. I need a good free-flowing ink that is not super-saturated like Noodlers or PR.

So if you have a lot of ink,

You should get a Yink, I think.

I have not done extensive testing (no long term soak.) But in a 'rinse' test it appears to be moderatly water resistant. Some of it washes away, but enough stays so that it is readable. Probably adequate for addressing envelopes or to survive a spill.

That will probably work - don't need more than that for this.

Waterman Blue-black - sounds like it is like most Waterman inks, which have some of the worst water resistance I have seen.

Thanks!

Noodler's Blue-Black in my finer-pointed pens is darker and less blue, while in my wider-pointed pens it is more blue. I do enjoy it, but I just traded the 3/4 full bottle away as part of an exchange for a pen.

I also like the colors of the blue-blacks from Namiki/Pilot, Diamine/Yard-O-Led, Parker Quink, Sailor, and Waterman.

Another vote for Noodlers/Swisher Tahitian Pearl BB here too. I like using it in a wet extra fine nib because it spreads just a bit. I have a Black/Blue Pearl pen I use it in.

Aircorp, while not being a true Blue-Black is my general purpose ink. It writes a fine line like the Noodler's Black, and I like the Green tinge to it. :)

I like the Legal Lapis pretty good too, and I usually keep a pen inked up with it.

Noodler's Midnight Blue is like a Bluer version of Tahitian Pearl BB, only not waterproof. And I don't think it flows quite as nice as the Tahitian Pearl BB or Aircorp.

How can you tell when you're out of invisible ink?
