fountain pen taboos - don't enter if you're easily offended

I am too open to support any taboo. But in the same time, there is no taboo on having a taboo, so you guys are free to enjoy your taboos if you have a need for them.

I wonder what could work as a fountain pen taboo for me... No, I couldn't find anything, sorry.

I didn't respect pens with caps that didn't post - until I got a very cute glass pen with a cat on it. And it writes so sweet and wet that I forgive that its cap is imposible to post... Once I forgive just one, I forgive them all.

My taboo will be probably about high-carb inks. Like, for example, don't put an ink that has too much sugar in it in your pen... But what kind of taboo is this if no reasonable person would ever do that anyway!

Or maybe, being a curious and stubborn, I prefer to test those taboos on my own skin. Like "don't try to cool your overheated iron using running water under a fauset." I learned that lesson on my own skin. And my skin remembers that.

This is probably more anathema to some than taboo, but I have realized that I prefer c/c. IT'S TRUE AND I'M PROUD!

Seems like a Lamy fountain pen forum is a taboo topic! Does that make Lamy fountain pens taboo?

I do not like them, so please do not talk about them here :roflmho:

Mine has a tiger. Beautiful pen and a nice writer, but it stays on my desk and is not a carry around pen.

Apparently in this instance, yes.

LAMY LAMY LAMY !!!

You know come to think about it, is a ball point a taboo? You know the really cheap giveaway kind that brakes before you can read the add on barrel? Or maybe one of those pens with the *nude* that uncovers when it's turned over?

Or are they just tacky? :hmm1:

Isn't Tacky a penguin??

Mandriva is a good choice too, very well executed! I'm kinda leaning 'twards Fedora myself, I just can't get into the KDE4 thing on Mepis, their forums are great though!

How's Linux treating you?

I was not getting on with the distribution packaging either. I tried 7 or 8 before I settled on Mandriva. I looked at it on the recommendation of my website host. The hat packaging just seems to work better.

- I really like all the Parker Sonnets I have owned - after a bit of fussing and fiddling they've all worked perfectly. I've got one filled with Lamy Blue Black iron gall/battery acid, and I don't even worry about it. If it eventually fails, so what? In the past year of use with iron gall it's gotten consistently better.

That's probably because the ink is slowly eating its way through it... ;) :roflmho:

2) dont agree with how some people can't see the point in having multiple pens "inked" - there are numerous reasons for it.. what about if you run out of ink in your main pen? (happens to me when i have a long day at university) or what if you want to write in different colours? or (in my case) you are writing on lecture notes and need a finer nib than you prefer normally to fit everything in?

+1 !!

I'd love to have an XF nibbed FP for those math hells. I don't know how I went through my PDE course with a M nib!

schrodycat, I agree with you completely. I'm glad somebody finally said it.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

Wasn't it g-d's idea to do the alteration?

yeah if you believe the bible. :) my take is, and i may be wrong, men wrote the bible to serve their purposes. seems illogical that god created something to only be taken out. in terms of PENS god probably wanted it without the hood. on second thought i know he'd wanted it that way. :ltcapd:

I guess then I can admit that while I like the look of some of those ribbed pens, I don't think I will buy one because they remind me of unrolled ribbed condoms.
