The best way to go is to use Rakuten. This is an online portal that represents many Japanese online dealers (for all goods). This is kinda like Amazon. These are the ones that will ship internationally. Many Japanese online dealers will not ship internationally. For those shops who do not ship internationally , you could try a service like Shopping Mall Japan.

Using Rakuten, you can shop around for the best price. You should compare the Rakuten prices to Engeika or Russ. In the case of an auction, you can beat often Rakuten prices unless the bidding goes crazy. On 'buy it now' prices, I've seen the eBay guys charge a lot more than the Rakuten prices for certain things. Rakuten has a larger variety of stuff and you can buy items that are exclusive to certain dealers. For example, the only way to get the Sailor Kobe inks is to buy them from Nagasawa Penstyle.

Note: Rakuten is for new items. For things out of production or vintage, you'll have to go to eBay or better yet Yahoo auctions Japan.

My experience is that all Japanese ebayers are providing perfect service.

Engeika has proven over time to be excellent and reliable, he's often proposing very nice items from sailor like the Kop or the rare Susutake.

if you are looking for vintage pen, I would suggest on the bay to look for sakura_zeppelin or and win_world_japan. I recently bought some NOS Platinum from Speerbob in the USA.

Finally I had an excellent experience with the Japan Ujuku shop for new items not available on the bay: http://ujuku1.ath.cx/

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Daniel
