What is your most beautiful pen?

All my pens have some sort of beauty to them. Simply the fact of being my pen, makes them beautiful to me. I have no expensive pens at all. If I had to chose one single pen for visual beauty, I would probably say my $8 Waterman Persian, with a lovely flexible nib. I have a Mont Blanc 22 which is to external appearance simply a functional pen, with a flexible stub nib. However in use it has a feeling of elegance and beauty. Its beauty is not so much visual as other sensory. I also have a set of pens made of lead crystal, which catch the light and refract a myriad of colors. These are in someways just desk ornamentation, but they are smooth and ready writers that surprise. No one expects to see me uncap a shard of glass and write with it.

 

These pens sound really cool! Any pictures or perhaps a brand/model name that we can look up?

Among the ones I have right now:

 

1. Krone Daddy-O Oh-Baby. Just received this last night. Pictures did not prepare me for how beautiful this one is. The flecks in the resin looked 'flat' in the pictures in comparison to when I opened the box up. It had so much depth to it and I could not stop staring at it. The box it came with is

 

2. Visconti Van Gogh Tortoise. The swirls are just beautiful. The only thing that is a bit off for me is a clear part near the end of the barrel. I wished the pen was covered all over with the swirls. But for the money I paid for this, I am not gonna complain :)

 

3. Omas Paragon old-style. Yes, it is just black with gold trim. But its the way the facets that catch the light that does it for me. The vegetal resin, while plain black, just seems more pleasing than other resins; I just can't explain why.

I do not have a digital camera, or scanner, but when my daughter gets home I will get her to photograph them and post pix.

Very declasse, but I have a suspicion that my Jinhao Confuscius Commemorative is my best looking pen. Another Jinhao I have to hand (the Dragon Protects precious Stone number) is rather fetching as well. I have a few design classics to hand, but they aren't as showy.

Omas old-style Paragon in Saffron Blue celluloid is my prettiest pen, followed closely by my Stipula Etruria Alter Ego.

 

Under $120? That's a hard one. Maybe a Levenger True Writer? Some of them are real lookers!

Most beautiful under $120.00 A Japanese maki-e fountain pen which I recently bid for and won on e-bay. It was quite cheap and does not have a makers name but it is very beautiful with a cottage and trees and copper colour sparkles.

Most beautiful over $120.00 A Pelikan M400 white/tortoise.

Sorry I cant supply photos - I am a fairly new silver surfer and havent got a clue about sending photos, but Im sure youre all familiar with the Peli M400 anyway. :)

I think the Pel tortoise and white is lovely too, but maybe a touch feminine for some chaps.

 

The most beautiful pen to my mind is the MB Virginia Woolf, but I choose it for its tactile etched design rather than looks. Second is defintely the VP raden with tiny speckles of abelone in its laquer. But for sheer bling factor it has to be the Visconti Ragtime 20th Anniversary FP, with real gold dust and a gold plated section. WOW!

 

Those, unfortunately, are all well over $100. If I had to choose something below $120 I'd probably go fro the Aurora Ipsilon with silver coloured etched cap. It has a real Deco feel about it that I love, just a little different...I think they are on sale at Fahneys at the moment

Can't go wrong with the Proporzione. I thought the Desert Springs would quench my desire for the Divina but I'd still like a Proporzione and a G8. :) (but maybe not so much the Royale Angel Skin... yeuch.)

The most beautiful pen in my collection is the Pelikan Grand Place.

 

For the under $120 mark, that's a little tough!

They're not my most expensive, but to me they're the most beautiful of all I have.

 

My Sheaffer Balance Marine (OS) and Snorkel Vermillion. I love just looking at them. The Marine is the best writer I own.
