Gaudy looking pens

Just going off topic a bit, I see you have a collection of Pilot Iroshizuku inks, and I was wondering how the Momji performs. I've already got the Yama-Budo, and I've got Noodlers Fox Red (foxy red as my friend says!)., the yama-budo is great and I like the colour of the Noodlers but it feathers or dries slowly or something that stops me using it. Well I'd like to know about the Momji - any info you can give?

It's a very nice ink! It exactly the color my Japanese maple turned last fall. I haven't had any trouble with feathering or slow drying. Yama-budo is one of my favorite inks, and Momiji is as well behaved as Yama-budo.

Well I guess since many people cite red as gaudy, then I love gaudy pens. Deep, deep red such as crimson is my favorite color and I'm really drawn to red pens. Like this one:

The Espressione is one of my all time favorites! In fact, it is pretty close to perfect for me.

Oooo, MiamiArcStudent, that is a BeaUtiful red pen! I hope Scratchy takes this in a good natured way (and I have a feeling she will), but I have been laughing out loud throughout this thread. MiamiArcStudent's pen is red AND marbled, so two strikes against it! :D

As Greg said, we had a "Wild Pen" topic on Pentrace last weekend. For me, it was a treat to see the embellishments, the patterns and the bright colors. I see wild (or gaudy) pens as day-brighteners. Ha ha, I have a pen that my husband hates and every time I use it he tells me he doesn't care for it. It's over-the-top for him. (I happen to love the pattern and color of the pen.) But I laughed the hardest here when Scratchy said her marbled Bexley was gaudy. Sorry, Scratchy, but the soft caramel coloring and subtle swirls are sooooo dreamy to me that it's hard to imagine what is gaudy. ;) But I'm understanding that your preference is for solid colored pens, and that marbling must break the lines of a pen for you in some way, and distract your eye in a way that is unpleasant. Isn't it interesting how our tastes run the gamut? :D
