We are purportedly our own critics: my handwriting, in my own brutal opinion, is awful.post-88423-0-82928500-1340805903.jpg

I have begun to practice every day, both with the technique and posture. I vary between small caps and print, my cursive is too terrible to post. I hope to improve with daily practice, and guidance from books and possibly a penmanship workshop.

OH, I could only wish that most of my students' handwriting was as "awful" (NOT!) as yours... It's strong, legible, and has character.

Interestingly, my mother (a teacher of 30 years plus) says my handwriting as shown is more legible than the small caps I normally use. I write much faster with less cramping now.

Thanks for the feedback, though!

Sorry for the slightly odd angle on the attachment. I had to take a photograph rather than scan it, as I don't have a scanner at home. The top sample is the most reflective of my normal, everyday writing -- what I use in my journal, and for taking written statements at work.

The paper is a rather boring Wonder Woman Notebook from Target! Also, please ignore the tiny piece of potato chip behind the pen that I used to keep it from rolling around. :)

Here is my "everyday" handwriting with my "newly discovered" Sheaffer PFM. It belonged to my father and he gave it to me. I didn't realize what I had until I started getting interested in fountain pens. The poem is not mine, but it gets me everytime.

If the attachment appears sideways, I apologize. I have no idea how to stop this from happening. For me, some of my posts are fine on the a laptop, but sideways on the iPad - can't figure out why.

Any comments, suggestions, are welcome. Thanks!

Here is my handwriting, I find it kinda disturbing. After 3 years of using the keyboard, my handwriting is severely damaged.

Workin' on fixing it tho.

A calligraphic attempt :D, this is the notebook's title, it means "fixing handwriting practice book"

This is the newest attempt, testing my Pelikan 4001 when I bought it this evening. I was thinking between Pelikan 4001 & Parker Quink then I realized they sell the Pelikan 4001 2oz bottle for $4.

My middle name & 1st name.

Still ugly imo but less ugly than the upper pic hehe.

Wasn't taught cursive, but this is what happens naturally from writing quickly I think, a mixture of joined letters and print. Not correct, but it is what it is.

Written with a blunt HB pencil. ;)

And thus ends my first post, a fitting one I think, as my first fountain pen is yet to arrive in the mail.

Mine looks like this at the moment. I'm relearning cursive after not using it since about 4th grade (I'm 27).

Extremely poor. Currently trying to improve it using several topics on this extremely helpful forum as well as a book I bought. Any general advice or tips would be welcome. Thank you.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks to all who shared.

My handwriting is not great, but my time to work on it is limited. When I do work on it, I like to copy poems and literary passages. A lot of the stuff I copy is in Spanish, so I can combine hobbies.

Improvement needed but here you go, something like this:

I love that Copperplate style. It is just beautiful.
