Thanks! I was looking for something to write and test out a variety of pens and inks and figured great quotes would be perfect for the task. I came up with that idea after I realized that I had written a section of a famous speech by Churchill so many times that I had it memorized:

"...Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.'" - December 18. 1940

I figure if I can get a couple more to stick like that, my handwriting will certainly have improved in the mean time. :D

I do have a fascination with history and might start writing notes as I review. A perfect project for the winter.

My first flex fountain pen writing

(I should say I've used plenty of dip pens with flex)

I feel a lot more like I did before than I do now.

Hi Vidalia, You show good examples of natural handwriting that I would consider to be a model to follow. You have some nice little flourishes in the 'Roundhand' example which I will try to emulate, thank you for your contribution.

Please tell me what fountain pen & nib you used for the "weather report" at the bottom! That's exactly the style I'm looking for in a pen. And if I were ask for a nib to be customized how would I describe that style?? Thanks for your help. Wickwack

I DO THE SAME THING! It does seem much easier to write like this for me. I've lately started writing in the top left corner and working my way down.

Yay watch_art!!! Funny isn't it? I can do it on lined or unlined paper. And it feels easier too than trying to keep my letters on the lines.

Greatly admire the sample on the left -- and it's already shown up some flaws in my hand that I can cure with its aid - any chance of some more please? beak.

PS - yes the same things often happens with me - must work out why this is.

Edit: PS added.

I also tend to write straighter on an angle! Do you all also happen to be lefties?

No, right-handed me.

One of my aims this year is to develop a nice italic scrawl...what you see here is my usual hand. Sailor King of Pen F/M with Sailor Jentle ink. The pic done with same ink and a little watercolour.

thanks

This is a draft copy of a story I'm writing. It shows my normal speed handwriting warts an all.

Since being on this forum I decided to practice good examples slowly and see if I improve when writing normally.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a55/Davejey/storyA.jpg

So now is an example of a practice sheet for starters..

And here is something I found in a book called Script & Scribble..

Beautiful handwriting is of that value which cannot be bought or sold but is obtained by practice and application.

Magic. I read the story straight off without a hitch, so no probs there, and the practise page was a definite ' right click / save as' job. Congrats. Better than me by a long chalk.

PS

Could you tell us the pens, inks and nib sizes please?
