The standard of handwriting is a bit humbling on here!! Therefore. I'll hope that the words take your breath away to an extent where you forget to look at the writing. :ltcapd:

The image these words conjure up is breathtaking, Corgi, but I like your writing a lot. Very dignified. I like your right hook on the ascenders.

I'm still enjoying this thread very much — everyone's handwriting as unique as fingerprints. So many of us are apologetic, but we shouldn't be. You know that generations from now people will be discovering the scraps of paper we've filled with ink, and they'll be marveling at the pinache and style we show in our handwriting, just as we admire those from past generations. I've looked at each and every one of the entries here at least once, and many of them numerous times. I'm being sincere when I say thank you, all, for showing us what your handwriting looks like.

And I agree. This post interests me greatly, and I learn a lot from it because I am interested in how other people tackle the problems of legibility and speed, and I have learned quite a bit from it. I have never been attracted much to formal styles and 'perfect' execution - 'calligraphy' is not for me, but everyday handwriting skills are a treat to see. Thanks to all who contribute here.

Sincerely, beak.

Here's a sample of my work in progress penmanship. There are so many great examples in this thread that I had to think about whether or not I would post.

How many pens do I need, is not the question.

Well that's the bit that saddens me. Si many historical insights have been gaines on the basis of scraps of paper upon which were recorded thoughts and observations that today most of us will never write down, but consign to a blog or, worse, an email. With technology moving on at such a pace, we don't have the means to look back at all these electronic "scraps of paper". Last week I was tidying my study and found six 5 1/4 inch floppy discs containing material I assembled for a book back in the 80s. I suppose I could find a way of reading them, but it would take a lot of effort. Tomorrow's history is just becoming less accessible. A little off thread perhaps, but a good argument for championing handwriting and the trusty pen.

This is an excellent point and one that would not have occurred to many, I would guess. There is a price to pay for all technological advances, and you have hit on another. Perhaps our handwriting practise might be to copy out all of this 80s and 90s word-processing in longhand! Silly as it may sound, there could be a point; those needing handwriting material to copy might record from the net some of the ephemera that interests them. You might start a thread on this elsewhere - Chatter? The write stuff?

Beak.

Sincerely, beak.

I do like italic nibs, they make me slow down and be neater. When I use this pen even my grocery lists come out this way.

Your Hand-Writing looks fantastic! I've also noticed that an Italic nib helps me neaten up my handwriting as well. Even if it's a fine italic, like the Fine Italic I use with my Estie, it's really fine about .5mm or less but it still helps tremendously!

My scanner is not behaving, so this will have to do.

Keep it up, please. I am enjoying seeing and imitating others' handwriting--I like to expand my repertoire. :)post-24297-0-88113600-1290413301.jpg
