Horrible..I feel like my hand writing these days are ugly maybe because I don't write anymore. I more comfortable to type than to write but I want to improve and bring back my good writing skills again.

Justin..Welcome Aboard....Enjoy your time here.....The followin' advice should suffice

there is something classic about taking up a pen and scribbling down on a nice notebook, something about reading a hand written love letter (as opposed to a love letter email?).

We want to remind you again about that beauty of writing, and we want to encourage you to never stop doing so. To use pen instead of a stylus. To smell the fresh, crisp leaves of a notebook....when technology fails you, old-school technique is still the one you can depend on.

Never Quit......You Can Do It...................

Still your friend and his..

Fred

Keep up the good work! It takes time to work up to a beautiful and consistent script. I find that there are certain words that help with this cadence or rhythm of letters, and you might find that it helps. You may discover words that help with learning the transitions between letters.

My words and reasons:

osmosis - trains your transitions from your s's

titanium - trains your vertical stroked letters: t, i, n, u, m

aluminum - same for titanium

I started a new notebook: a Clairefontaine 1951 with nice smooth paper. I got out my hybrid FPs with the dip nibs and produced a decent sample of what my handwriting looks like these days.

I just did this for the QOTW thread in the Calligraphy subforum. This is my everyday hand, done with four different pens and inks.

Pelikan M150 F- Sheaffer Skrip Brown

Pelikan 120 Merz & Krell M - Levenger Amethyst

Esterbrook transitional J 1551 - J.Herbin Eclat de Saphir

TWSBI 580 B stub - Blackstone Daintree Green

Been working on my flex writing and it has been turning out pretty good. All though I would love to get better at flourishing!

Nice.

I'm not a 'Star Wars' groupie by any road - having watched only the original 1970s movie all the way through, but I do like the quote you presented.

Here is a sample with my Edison Nouveau Premiere Nightfall with Private Reserve DC Electric Blue. Beautiful pen but the 1.1mm staub is a little more scratch compared to my TWSBI pens with 1.1mm staub. To smoothen it a bit, I use some soap to give it more flow and smoother writing.

That is absolutely beautiful.

Breathtakingly elegant.

Also like your "editor cat".

How long did it take to learn to write like that or have you always?

mahalo,

jim
