There's one for sale here - with only a replica 'baby pen' for $24,500 !!!

[EDIT]: Amended price

I don't know if that is a current price as the web page seems to be a cached item.

What seems apparent is that there seems to be only 1 authenticated unrepaired version.

This could be it, or it could be the second.

It needs to be looked at by experts (Parker experts as there are probably no experts in this pen itself).

If it were mine, I would take a trip up to Janesville and discuss this with Lynn Sorgatz.

The pen is worth enough to offset the trip and there would be less of a hounding that is going to happen on eBay and possibly at penshows with such an item on display.

:yikes: I guess this settles the old "my pens bigger than your pen" squabble. :roflmho:

WOW what a pen! Good luck with your sale.

I certainly wouldn't consider myself to be any kind of authority on anything

but I certainly wouldn't be rushing headlong into selling it at the earliest opportunity.

Unless of course my house was about to re-posessed.

I agree with the aussie on this.

Wouldn't this approach be more likely to maximise the selling price?

The down side is starting with this pen It will be hard to upgrade from here.

Upgrade? Upgrade?

I'd say you are on the top and looking down!

Good Luck in LA.

Do let us know how things work out for you.

It is MONSTROUS, fantastic pen. The same as been sold on an auction in Geneva in 1992 without the red one

Hi Olivier

Is this the pen you are referring to?

PenMeIn if this is the ultra giant Olivier was referring to the price is written in the last picture

I believe the first figure is Swiss francs and the second figure is U.S. Dollars (at the 1991 conversion rate)

12,000 SFr. 8280 U.S. Dollars

Just as a point of interest this one does not appear to have its blind cap either (however, I may be wrong).

Regards

Paul.

The description in the photo says it does not have the baby pen inside. The small pen in the photo is a Waterman according to the info in the photo. It also appears that the blind cap is missing as well.

So now we have the answer - a salesmans' 'foot-in-the-door' ! Apt, as it's nearly a foot-long !

Hi,

Some random thoughts on value/ selling:

This puppy is ultra rare obviously and yours may possibly be the best one out there of the 5 or so known to exist.

Forget Ebay!! You will do much better direct by circulating info into the Pen World and at Shows. Chicago, LA, or DC would be the place to attract the proper buyers.

So $8K is bandied about, but the reality on a pen this rare AND this desirable is that the sky is the limit. I personally think you will end up doing MUCH better than $8K if you market your unbelievable find correctly.

Sensitive Pen Restoration doesn't cost extra.

I decided not to do ebay with it and I think the 8k figure was thrown out as a joke. I am in no hurry and have not made the final decision to sell or not. I was quoted an estimate of the value by a top dealer that the right collector would pay and it was several times over the 8k figure. It does seem to be the best example currently known and maybe the only complete, undamaged one.

Wow! What an amazing find! I think you're doing the right thing by not going through ebay. If it were me; I'd want to have it examined by experts/Parker historians who will help you verify exactly what you have, help place a valuation on it, and likely put you in touch with interested collectors who, if you were to sell it, have the means and enough sense of "fair play" to not take advantage of you. I would think an in person inspection of what you have would be the way to go. Congratulations on such a rare and historically significant find!

Thank you! You are right, it should be looked at by an expert and I will get that done asap, maybe at the Chicago show and It really should be on display for the pen community to enjoy at all the pen shows. I will get a suitable display made in the mean time. I am a collector in a different field and have never been able to find an item on par with this pen (rarity wise) in my field of collecting. I am truly blessed to be able to obtain it. I just could not pass it up when I found out how few exist. I have been asked to allow it to be photographed for a pen book and web site and I definitely think that should happen at some point in the future. It is in my safety deposit box for now but that is not where it belongs long term. I will keep everyone updated if I sell it if that is ok with the possible new owner.
