They are Schmidt nibs

The sizes of nibs available at launch will be EF, F, and M. I have a F nibbed Twsbi diamond and it's pretty good.

How did you get one of the Diamonds? I thought that they weren't for sale yet.

I met up with speedy in Taipei to discuss some marketing/pre-sale things and was given one gratis. I posted my impressions in a thread here. Don't take it as gospel, since the pen is pre-production, and I am obviously not an unbiased observer. But I think people here are going to like it. It's definitely a "writer's" pen. Which isn't that surprising, since the pen's feature set was a wishlist from Taiwanese, Chinese, and other foreign fountain pen users.

I would say based on experience that it's similar to western sizes. The Twsbi EF nib I tried had a similar line width as my "F" nibbed Pilot M90.

Any idea when these will become available?

To get in on the first 300 pens made there is a presale thread here:

http://www.fountainp...ng-pen-presale/

I think there's only about 70 left or so.

There's only roughly 30 left now.

But anyways, this thread is about the Vacuum filler, not the piston filler. As to when the Vacuum filler will come out, speedy is still trying to get the first one made while tooling up for mass production on the mechanical pencil, the Diamond piston filler, and filling other orders that a pen company such as his receives for other products they sell. So I think we will see more after mass production of the two aforementioned products is good to go.

You can check them out on the webstores the company maintains. They are in Chinese, but you can click around and look at pictures.

This pencil looks gorgeous. Is it really ~$146?

I finally went through this whole thread and I have to say - I'm pretty excited about the whole project and glad to have gotten myself on the list for one of the first 300.

It'll be really cool to see some interesting filling systems that actually hold substantial amounts of ink on modern pens that are well-made and don't break the bank. I'll definitely be picking up one of those vac fillers when they come out, too.

agreed. Really looking forward to obtain these twsbi pens (two ordered, love the design and the geek factor is a plus). 'Modern' piston fillers are elusive, expecially outside Europe, and these projects are welcome. I'll order some vacuum fillers also (even if I'm not excited by the design). The box prototype is really something; and the whole 'shared design' philosophy is shocking news in the polished, fashionable world of some manifacturers of precious resin piston fillers.

1000元 is 1000 Taiwan Dollars. That's about $32 USD at spot rates. If you think that pencil is cool, Twsbi is launching a cool mechanical pencil that should be close to half the price of that pencil:

Yes, the body of the pencil is all metal, which I think is awesome.

What I love about Twsbi is that it is going to radically change the value you will come to expect from a fountain pen company.

A departure from the traditional (often expensive and so devoid of price/quality ratio) design process, for a cleverly conceived product. Moreover, you can knock off all parts (geek nirvana) without breaking too much of the pen. It's also nice to see. This pen is a dream came true, and this simple pencil is nice too.

Hi,

Can I pre-order one of the vacuum fulling fountain pen already?

It would be my first!

Thanks,

Very good comment. This shape is not final yet, from different comments and mock up later on we may need to re-shape it a little bit. We are also struggling between tranditional design or something new. New is good but also a big risk, so to get comments from future user is a good idea for all of us. I hope we can gradually shape out something that is distintive as Twsbi style.

But most important for us now is create pens that are good quality, and inexpensive, and fun.

Not that I would like you to copy anything, but I recently held a Visconti Divina Proporzione (Divine Proportions). A very beautiful pen, lying very comfortably in my hand. A pen I can't afford but would like to write letters with.

So, if you want to get some more ideas for this pen or an other project in the future, take a look at this pen.
