Speedy,

Some people were complaining about the large jump in thickness from the barrel to the section. Is that already finalized?

Diamond 530 section is on the thin size for my taste, a lager one on VAC 700 would reduce the gap and reach my personal 11mm ( Sheaffer's Balance oversize, Pelikan M800, MB 146 and so on ) sweet point,

This is a huge ( not for small hands ) pen ( and this is GOOD!! ) a thin section would reduce the writing pleasure for people with medium to broad hands.

if already finalized maybe as an option?

I've got a Dunhill AD2000 and it has that same kind of style. Personally, I think it looks attractive............ as long as the lines of the pen taken as a whole support the design (as I believe the ad2000 does). For me it's kind of hard to evaluate until the pen is in my hands. Regardless, the dialogue with the developer on this sight is... out of sight! I'd probably purchase one just on general principle of keeping Speedy bringing out more and different models!

A big section is fantastic.

I'm over people whining for light thin pens. I hate them.

So far so good with everything TWSBI, can't wait for a vacumatic

Right, that and the fact that the jump from barrel to section looks sharp! I feel like that would dig into some peoples' fingers, depending on how they grip the pen.

If you scroll down on the page Speedy linked to, it appears that the step has been reduced considerably.

Well, I am planning next Vac without thread between section and barrel, it is a snap fit cap.

some people hold the pen near thread area, they may find Vac 700 not comfortable for them, so...

That would be just great!!! And make them big! As people get old they need fatter pens.

I love the way I can grip a Waterman Edson, a Lamy 2000 or a Waterman Liaison.

A Waterman Liaison locks the cap close to the nib, and the rest of the body is perfectly smooth. A Visconti Rinascimento has a lovely thread close to the nib, also far away from where the fingers grip... just some ideas.

I hate threads under my fingers... there are some threads that are very well done - the ones in Montegrappa Miya for instance, and some Auroras... these are done in a way that feel quite comfortable to my fingers.

But really, why do they have to be on the section/body transition? why not make a thread or place the springs on the nib/section transition??

Sooooo tempted by this vacumatic. Anyone have any idea when it's going into production?

Easier to justify buying two pens if one's a vacumatic and one's a piston filler.

I would be perfectly happy with a clutch and clutch ring - similar to the Parker "51"

That is a design that has withstood the passage of time... and doesn't seem to be too difficult to engineer.

Fast, Cheap, Good... you can choose two.

  • 3 weeks later...

I hope the Titanium nib is still a possibility on one of these new models.

so do I,

I think that this will be a great pen.

Is there any idea of the price?

I think the step between the section and barrel ought to be reduced considerably to reduce discomfort when holding the pen. Also, I wonder if the problem of cap posting on the filling knob has been resolved?

Yes, Speedy, an update would be nice, but not necessary. I know this process takes time. I'd still like to see one in a rich forest green!

This Vac looks like a pen I'd like to get. I hope it woll be offered with a broad or double Broad tip so it can be easily customized.

Cheers,

I really hope these two things are resolved. MY TWISBI dripped ink all over a friend when she tried to remove the cap from being posted and twisted the filler knob. I also hold my pens very far back and any step in the barrel is very uncomfortable.
