I've never come across a Pel as in the link listed on ebay. Is it a legit or a fake ? I'm thinking of bidding. Reminds me of the MB Generation.

I've had few of those, those are great (and all the other MK 10 / MK 20 /etc. and P12 / P15 /P25 / P30 / etc. models) but can be found for less money than that...

 

I see now - that's an unused one and with a EF nib - it's worth the price (and even more)!

Hello.

 

The MK30 is a quite common pen from the 70s. I have an M30 (rolled gold cap). The pen appears to be in mint condition but the price is way too high in my opinion.

And to scream that "A SINGLE OWNER PEN THAT WAS BOUGHT IN 1968 in CZECHOSLOVAKIA BRAND NEW JUST BEFORE THE SOVIET OCCUPATION AS A GIFT AND RARELY USED SINCE!" reminds me to the mighty "Benz Collection" reloaded...

There are hardly any (if any at all, I never heard about a fake Pelikan or MB in this price-range) fakes of vintage pens (specially piston filler FP's... or anything else...)

No fakes, as far as I can tell, have been made of the Pelikan Mk10, Mk20 'Silvexa' or Mk30 pens. However, be careful of so-called 'frankenstein' pens that may have been made by switching parts from a Mk.10 to a Mk.30, which significantly reduces the value.

 

The seller has a good reputation, so I wouldn't worry about getting a fake.

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

The Mk. 10 is a student pen with a resin body and cap, and has a gold plated steel nib.

The Mk. 20 is the same model with a steel (I believe stainless) cap with a resin body, and has a 18c nib.

The Mk. 30 has a rolled-gold cap with a resin body, and has an 18c nib. Some Mk. 30s have a resin cap, or they could just be Mk. 10 caps (all three can take the same size caps).

There is also a Mk. 60 with all rolled gold furniture, body, and cap.

Just bought this MK30 (LINK (my interest was sparked by this thread). It has a resin rather than a rolled gold cap. Do you think it really is an MK30. Should the nib stamped 14ct or similar?

Yes, it's an MK30, they also came with standard black caps... you can simply pull the nib out (the feed too) and it should be stamped 14c!
