Thanks for sharing, nice review.

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

This is such a different, intense, luminous color. Caran D'Ache prices keep putting me off purchasing them despite the very attractive bottle and great ink quality. But this color in particular may push me over the edge. Thanks for the review.

Reminds me a lot of Private Reserve Shoreline Gold.

Too many pens; too many inks. But at least I've emptied two ink bottles now.

Looks like it pops off the page and has shading. I like it! Not a big oragne fan and have one orange - Ndlr Habanero but next orange may be this one. Thanks.

Yes you are right. Caran D'Ache Saffron is more intense and darker than Private Reserve Shoreline Gold. If you want to go for cheaper option then Shoreline Gold is a good choice.

This ink is excellent in a pen with a wet noodle. Stunning color variation from light orange to red. I scanned some of my scrawls but the scanner wasn't capable of showing the subtle variations at all.

I've found this color to be one of the most challenging to scan or photograph and have it look ANYTHING like it does in person. Good review though, but I think the physical properties of our computer monitors leave out a lot of the characteristics of this ink. It's such a bright and vibrant color, it's really wonderful.

It really is an exquisite colour, and that shading...... there really is nothing else that matches it. You just have to think of C d'A inks as a cheap date, a couple of beers, really - and then you have a month of inky pleasure. This one and Storm are worth every penny IMO.

And you get that sexy bottle, too!

I picked up a sample from Pear Tree. Nice color for a few lines. But a whole page? I think I would need to add something to darken it a bit.

Also, I would like to compare it to the Persimmon Pilot ink, but evidently samples of those are nowhere to be found.

Yes. I just loaded some into my "new" Merlin 33 (copper color) and it struck me that this ink really does look like its name. I think all scans/pictures I have seen are too red, or too orange. The Swab Shop scan is pretty close though.

Thanks....the Swab Shop swab is pretty close, but this ink was literally the hardest of any of the colors I had to scan. Something about the color was just impossible to get completely right, the computer simply cannot portray the full spectrum of this color! After doing the scan, I did 16 layers of color adjustments on my profiled monitor comparing the swab in natural light to get it to match, and I was about 85% pleased with it. What can I say, trying to view an ink like this on a computer is like putting a square peg in a round hole. It is a STUNNING color in person though! :yikes:

Price is no real big pain for me here; I prefer one great ink over 3-4 junkies. OTOH Iroshizukus are IMO not quite worth that dough.

CdA is truly awesome, also reminds me of H's Orange Indien. Sure, they're different oranges, but both have a lot of character.

You might also want to look into H's Ambre de Birmandie. Again, different but great!!
