are we allowed to make requests at this topic?

Doesn't that defeat the object somehow?

If it doesn't, can someone send me an MB 149 with OB nib as soon as possible please.......

It's on its way (from Neverland by fairy courier)! ;)

I think the whole point of this pay it forward thread was that people do something nice or give away things on their own initiative, free will and out of the kindness of their own hearts. This is without expecting anything in return, except perhaps the good feeling one gets when when you have done something nice or shown kindness. The hope and expectation is that the recipient of the gift or good deed will feel inspired to return the good deed by doing something nice here and thus the whole concept of paying it forward. To expect or request someone to cough up something or give something away by demand kind of defeats the whole purpose and spirit of the giving.

If you have a specific request, the best bet would be to utilize the Want to Buy forum. If you can't pay for something, explain your circumstances and I am sure someone will step up to the plate or at least give you advice or point you in the right direction. This is a large community of very nice and unselfish people here. Someone is always willing to help out when a plea or request is made.

opss,

sorry for the mess I created

I wanted a sheet or two of rhodia paper to try , but I understand the "want to buy" forum would be the best place.

once again I apologize

Hey all.

Doing my bit for karma, I'm offering to make for you, for free, a 100-ish page journal. Might be something softbacked in leather, or maybe case bound, or maybe something a little more retro-medieval, whatever takes my fancy :) But it'll be nice and FP friendly

In keeping with some of the other giveaways, furthest away from me wins. I live in Perth, Western Australia, and anywhere is a long way from us.... ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perth,_Western_Australia )

So using this: http://www.acscdg.com/ just PM me where you're at and how far (in kms - that's metric, people...) away you are. I'll let this run for a few weeks then update with the winner.

Sound OK with everyone?

Les

--- Update:

WOW! I cant believe the number of responses! In the lead so far is PENtup at 18628 kms. The furthest you can be from me (according to wikipedia and the mapping tool) is 19934 unless you're on a boat so Zoe you might want to check that :) Okami, there was no distance in your PM mate :(

OK, I just have to share this... First off my distance is 18090 so anyone over 18,000 has me beat. Just for fun, I put in my address & Perth Australia into Google Maps and did "Get Directions" and then selected walking directions.

There are multiple crazy things this brought up. First of all is the summary

"Walking directions are in beta.

Use caution – This route may be missing sidewalks or pedestrian paths.

Walking directions to Perth WA, Australia

15,532 mi – about 208 days 14 hours"

This route is definitely missing some pedestrian paths!

Then we've got stuff like this

"1127. Turn right 217 ft

1128. Turn left 0.1 mi

1129. Turn right 0.4 mi"

Yes, steps #1127 - 1129 in the directions. And that's not even anywhere near the end!

To make things crazier, there are a couple steps like this

"1380. Kayak across the Pacific Ocean Entering Australia (Northern Territory) 3,358 mi"

Oh well, at least that's better than the old walking directions to London from America. They used to say to go to New York City and swim across the Atlantic.

The total route looks really weird. Walk across the US, kayak to Hawaii, walk across Hawaii, kayak to Japan, walk across Japan, kayak to Australia, and then walk across Australia.

This is definitely not a trip I'll be taking any time soon!

I have three lever-filler Wearever pens that I thought I was going to restore, until I realized that they are far beyond my amateur abilities. I've gotten the dirt out of them and removed most of what were once sacs, soaked them in a 9:1 water to ammonia solution to clean the feeds and... that's where I stopped.

I'd like these to go to an individual who has both the determination and mid-level skill necessary to make them shine again, but since that's difficult to verify, I will send them to the first person with at least 50 posts (to demonstrate a de minimus level of dedication to the FPN community).

Peace!

James

EDIT: All three pens have been claimed.

Dang! And I was just looking for pens to try my hand at with restoration. I hope whoever claimed them gets them back up and running again.

Welp Guess I am out I live there

If you take the really scenic route your distance would be around 19930kms, give or take.

-----------------------------------PEN HAS BEEN CLAIMED---------------------------------------------------

I have a black w/ gold trim medium nib Sailor 1911m that I really am not ever going to use much. It had a leaky converter but has worked fine with cartridges. No box or papers.

The pen is in perfect condition otherwise and I would like to give it to someone who will use it.

Please don't PM but email to marcayork@aol.com. First reply will have it.

Prefer USA receipients but if you are not in the USA then I will ask that you pay shipping.

CLAIMED

NON-Fountain pen

I have a Samsung YP-T7J - 1g MP3 player with a case. No manual, no cable - but a basic USB cable, with the small plug on one end is all you need. You can transfer music via Windows Media Player. It comes with some music already loaded, but I can wipe it if you would like.

Here's a link to the user manual:User Manual

Osmiroid 75 for parts or repair practise CLAIMED

I have this Osmiroid that would suit someone wanting the screw out nib, or who wants to learn some FP maintenance and needs a cheaper pen. There is some sort of tiny leak, but the nib writes well.

Full details here in a previous post (apparently the Made in England nibs are rarer)

Just PM me and I'll send it out to ya!

Cheers,

Anton

Parker Reflex, medium nib, black body CLAIMED!

Available free to any US/Canadian students. Just drop me a PM.

Takes international/Parker long carts or Parker converter. Unfortunately I can't offer any carts or converters as I'm away from home traveling (but if you're willing to wait a couple weeks, I can include a pack of short carts). Body has some tooth marks and the expected wear from regular school use but is presentable and still in working order.

(Funny story: recently my grandfather found this pen in a drawer. However unlike most "grandfather's drawer" stories, this forgotten pen had to have been mine -- he stopped using FPs when he was a teen, and that's about the age when I picked them up. I'd love for the recipient of this pen to show their grandparent(s) up in the same way! )
