Pay it Forward 2009

I gave away the hot peppers and was told it was OK to do. I'm working on making a pair of earrings or 2. Just have to think of a fun way to give them away. Anyone have suggestions?

Okay, my turn...

I have been so blessed by the sweet people of FPN, especially OcalaFlGuy (and Florence) and Mooshisho, that I want to share... I don't have much to give, but here goes.

I recently bought the dip pen set (10 nibs and nib holder) from jbb and tried it, although she did an awesome job with everything, dip pens don't seem to be my thing. So...I would love for someone else to get joy from them! The couple that I tried have only been dipped once or twice and there are many that have never been used. So, if you are interested in trying some dip pens, send me a PM telling me why you should get it and I will decide by tomorrow evening (Friday at 9:00 pm).

The only catch is that if you find they are not your style you must Pay it Forward to let someone else try. :D

(I may regret this, but I am opening this one up worldwide. Nope, you know that I won't regret it at all! It is too much fun to be able to give!) :)

Blessings to all!

Extending until Sunday night at 9:00pm... this is open to anyone who has not tried dip pens before, old or new fountain pen users! PM me!

AND THE WINNER IS....

(This was tough to decide so I assigned a number to everyone who said they were interested, even those who didn't send a PM and then used a random number generator online.)

#5 lensassaman

As soon as I get the address, I will get it in the mail. Enjoy!

Welcome to DIZZYPEN's Holiday PIF!!!

I'm calling this the Newbie Starter Pack. It includes the following:

  • 1 Blue Esterbrook J with 2668 nib. (user grade, clip is a little loose otherwise in very good condition)
  • 1 Hero 343, Medium
  • 1 Pelikan Pelikano Future ground to a medium cursive italic by another FPNer
  • 1 Manuscript Calligraphy pen, Crisp Italic
  • 1 Dip pen holder with 5 Semi-flex nibs
  • 1 Pack of Mont Blanc Black cartridges
  • 10 sample vials of ink
  • 1 Medium Rhodia Notebook

Who is eligible: This PIF is for those who are new to fountain pens. That means you have no pens at all or just one or two, you have been a registered member of the website for at least one week and have made at least five posts prior to now, and you live in the continental US (sorry, but the international postage would be too much).

How to enter: If you meet the above criteria please send me a short (3-4 sentences) private message telling me how you became interested in fountain pens. Be creative. :)

Deadline to enter: You have from now until December 14, 2009 at 11:59PM to enter. I will announce the winner December 15, 2009.

Good Luck! :)

Newbies there is still plenty of time to get your entry in. The response hasn't been super high so your odds are good! :) Also note that I made a bit of the mistake above. What I have is not the Pelikan Pelikano instead it is a Pelikan Future. The italic grind is quite nice as well.

and the winner is.... Froldt!!! Congrats to you! I've sent you a PM. As soon as I get the address I can mail it out.

Yay! PM with address sent.

The great thing about this is that I will be able to share with friends. Pass the pens around and spread the addiction!

Okay, my turn. This is a small way to repay the friendship and information that I've found on FPN (plus enabling that should be illegal!)

I'm offering 3-5 ml samples of each my inks. Since the tubes I have available are not pen-friendly, I'll include a plastic pipettor for transferring ink to cartridges or a more friendly container. One sample of each of my inks is available, one per person. First PM gets the color, and I'll try to update availability quickly. Perhaps give a second choice in your message, in case your first choice is gone. And, yes, I know, I have far too many inks, but I do love colors. <img src="https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cloud9.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cloud9:" border="0" alt="cloud9.gif" /> (Note the lack of blacks and other ...serious colors.)

So, up for grabs are:

<b>Noodlers</b>

Habanero

<strike>Legal Lapis</strike> going to ntheo

Golden Brown

Firefly

<strike>Dragon's Napalm</strike> going to brl

<strike>Borealis Black</strike> going to xmattxyzx

<strike>Maroon</strike> going to asmith

<b>Private Reserve</b>

<strike>Orange Crush</strike> going to inBOIL

Sherwood Green

<b>Levengers</b>

Fireball

<strike>Amethyst</strike> going to Eskie

<b>J. Herbin</b>

Blueu Pervenche (Periwinkle Blue)

<strike>Poussiere de Lune (Moon Dust)</strike> going to Lloyd

Jaune Bouton D'Or (Buttercup Yellow)

<b>Rotring</b>

<b>Conway Stewart</b>

<strike>Brown</strike> going to 698686

Brilliant Red

<b>Mont Blanc</b>

<b>Pilot Iroshizuku</b>

<strike>Yama Budo (Wild Grapes)- ordered, so may be slight delay.</strike> going to kookychick

US or Canada only.

I thought I should mention why I've tried to Pay it Forward, both in this thread and previously. Not long after I joined FPN, I posted a WTB for a Reform Demo, a pen that I had owned previously. A member sent one to me, at no cost...and included a Recife Crystal Eyedropper. He just wrote that he thought that I'd like it, and I did! I've tried to pay it forward since then.

My first choice would be the Noodlers habanero, but I would defer to Kurisuchi's earlier claim if it came down to it.

My second choice would be the Pelikan Violet.

My third choice if it was needed would be the Levenger Cocoa.

Like I said, this was offered nearly a year ago. I'm really curious whether any of these were not claimed.

Sorry, fellow fpners, but all the samples were claimed. Once the memory of preparing and mailing all of those vials fades (it hasn't yet), I might do it again.

Because it's Christmas, a Christmas present to someone:

A NEW (dipped only, never inked, still in box) Hero Calligraphy set.

This set has three interchangeable calligraphy nibs that write smoothly and could be classified as F (1.1), M(1.5) and B (1.9). If you're like me, you can use the F for regular cursive writing.

The lightweight, cigar-shaped pen is matte black with silvertone trim, and it comes with a converter. I'm including two standard international carts as well.

The gift will go to a beginning pen user and collector in the CONUS only, to whom I have not given anything previously.

PM me and tell me a bit about yourself. I'll come back to look at this thread again sometime before noon, read the PMs, and announce the winner.

It's a really good beginner set, and everyone knows I'm a big fan of Hero pens. Ganbatte!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

No worries! I would have been quite surprised it they hadn't been claimed.

Kudos to you for your generosity! This forum never ceases to impress me. A lot of generous people here.

My goal in the coming year is to acquire some goodies to give away here.

Huzzah and Happy Holidays!

Thanks. It's fun, as you will discover.

Aaand the calligraphy set has been claimed. (I took a long lunch).

I've PM'd the winner, who still needs to PM me with name and mailing addy.

Merry Christmas, one and all. And Happy New Year.

Since I can't edit my original post any longer, I've copied it here.

Oh, and I found two more inks, so I've added them to the list below.

Received the package very quickly (and am still waiting for a package that I purchased from elsewhere.... :( what happened to customer service!) and it truly was an early Christmas! I felt like a kid in a candy store!

Dizzypen, thank you so much! I have some people in mind with whom I plan to share the excitement. A new pen and some ink for them to pass on the addiction.
