I found my brown leather composition book cover in the mail today!

I really like the mini one. :)

Thanks a bunch, Octo!

p.s. What ink were you using? It reminded me of a turquoise uni-ball pen....

Bravo Sir, Bravo. We should all be inspired. Very generous of you.

Sincerest Regards,

I don't remember. If bright, it would have been Pelican Turquoise. If muted, it would have been Noodler's Legal Lapis.

Okay, my turn...

I have been so blessed by the sweet people of FPN, especially OcalaFlGuy (and Florence) and Mooshisho, that I want to share... I don't have much to give, but here goes.

I recently bought the dip pen set (10 nibs and nib holder) from jbb and tried it, although she did an awesome job with everything, dip pens don't seem to be my thing. So...I would love for someone else to get joy from them! The couple that I tried have only been dipped once or twice and there are many that have never been used. So, if you are interested in trying some dip pens, send me a PM telling me why you should get it and I will decide by tomorrow evening (Friday at 9:00 pm).

The only catch is that if you find they are not your style you must Pay it Forward to let someone else try. :D

(I may regret this, but I am opening this one up worldwide. Nope, you know that I won't regret it at all! It is too much fun to be able to give!) :)

Blessings to all!

Extending until Sunday night at 9:00pm... this is open to anyone who has not tried dip pens before, old or new fountain pen users! PM me!

I may have to take you up on that, I've never tried a dip pen before.

Please do! You may LOVE it! :D

I have always wanted to try dip pens, but somehow the idea of an open ink bottle on my desk does not seem compatible with my work.

Hi All - I've been a member since '06 but only recently started posting. I think this thread is just fantastic, so here's my offering to one of you:

I've got an unused Crumpler Chicken Tex Skins notebook cover (colour - black olive) with four plain notebooks that I bought thinking they were lined. It's roughly A5 in size I think and pretty cool, perfect for someone looking for a rugged notebook and some spare plain unlined refills.

If you think you're in need of this rugged journal, the first person to respond can have it. No borders, anyone anywhere can claim it. All I ask is that if you don't like it, pass it on to someone in need.

Michael

Update - smoores got there first everyone, so this one is now closed.

Scrawler, from looking at your avatar, I think an open ink bottle isn't the only problem!

Yes, Miss Tiggs likes to sit on my computer and watch me work. Since I got a flat panel monitor for my desk top machine she can no longer sleep on top of the monitor and hang her paws over in front of me, so she jumps on my desk and slinks behind it. I would like to get a completely computer free desk just for writing, but for the time being that is how I make my living, sigh. But as my daughter has just reminded me, she also sits on the top of my chair like a hat while I work and would likely jump up on any desk I was at. For what was once a starving feral she sure takes liberties.

I'd love the notebook cover if it's still available...

Welcome to DIZZYPEN's Holiday PIF!!!

I'm calling this the Newbie Starter Pack. It includes the following:

  • 1 Blue Esterbrook J with 2668 nib. (user grade, clip is a little loose otherwise in very good condition)
  • 1 Hero 343, Medium
  • 1 Pelikan Pelikano Future ground to a medium cursive italic by another FPNer
  • 1 Manuscript Calligraphy pen, Crisp Italic
  • 1 Dip pen holder with 5 Semi-flex nibs
  • 1 Pack of Mont Blanc Black cartridges
  • 10 sample vials of ink
  • 1 Medium Rhodia Notebook

Who is eligible: This PIF is for those who are new to fountain pens. That means you have no pens at all or just one or two, you have been a registered member of the website for at least one week and have made at least five posts prior to now, and you live in the continental US (sorry, but the international postage would be too much).

How to enter: If you meet the above criteria please send me a short (3-4 sentences) private message telling me how you became interested in fountain pens. Be creative. :)

Deadline to enter: You have from now until December 14, 2009 at 11:59PM to enter. I will announce the winner December 15, 2009.

Good Luck! :)

Newbies there is still plenty of time to get your entry in. The response hasn't been super high so your odds are good! :) Also note that I made a bit of the mistake above. What I have is not the Pelikan Pelikano instead it is a Pelikan Future. The italic grind is quite nice as well.

Oh, that notebook cover is great... and I prefer unlined paper. If it's still available, I'll put it to good use!

My iguana used to sleep on my monitor and hang his tail down the side of it.

Miss Tiggs is adorable... I have a formerly-feral cat, too, and he's quite the boss of the house! He acts like a dog more than a cat sometimes, though -- he really doesn't like when we get mad at him, and I've made it clear that the tables and my desk are off-limits to kitties.

You might think of getting a good inkwell if you want to write with a dip pen -- my wife has one that I'm using, that her mother got her at an antique shop somewhere; it's got a broad enough base that it can't be tipped over.

Hi All - I'm going with the easiest first come first served option, so the Crumpler cover goes to smoores, who sent a message at 1.01am GMT. Apologies to those who responded after.

Cheers!

Michael,

those things do look intriguing, though I do prefer my paper checkered. Any chance you could tell me how the paper's fixed into the cover? On the pics it seems like it's bound on the left side and has some kind of cover page sliding into the outer cover on both sides, is that so?

Thanks,

Florian

I guess that is what happens when you are up feeding a baby in the wee hours half awake :)

..I'm excited...I always buy the ugly cheap notebooks...it will be neat to have something different! :)

On another note...I may have some stuff up as soon as the holidays slow down a bit. :D Keep watching! Can it be arts and craft related stuff, not just pens and ink and paper items?

I think I remember someone giving away hot peppers, so the answer would be anything goes!

New PIF post is coming this week!
