Pay it Forward 2009

Greetings!

I've been reviewing entries for the Generation for the last couple of hours. There were 30 great ones.

Several of them were from people who wanted to give a pen to someone close to them to help them understand this fountain pen fetish of ours... a truly worthy cause!

There were many who wanted to say "thank you" to someone special for some very special reasons...

There were a few who wanted to brighten the world of someone who has been beat up by the world in one way or another...

Four entries made this choice truly difficult... but I'm sending only one PM...

Meanwhile, figure out how you can brighten someone's world, say "thank you," or just further the cause of fountain pens in the world!

Thanks..... lsmith... You gave us all something to think about. I have already prepared a few Christmas gifts to further the Fountain Pen cause of the world. Thanks again for making me think on "my toes"

I received a surprise in the mail today. A maroon composition book cover!! Veru nicely done! It looks like leather and there was a mini one to match. Thank you so much Octo! You did a great job.

So...............

Who got it?

Great giveaway and great idea for picking the person. Kudos to you sir.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would love to hear the winning story, but I guess confidentiality may come into play on that one. If it is possible though...........

Yup, confidentiality does come into play here (and actually helped make the decision - the applicant didn't want to be identified to the recipient either!). It was a tough decision, but I think I made the right one.

Okay, my turn. This is a small way to repay the friendship and information that I've found on FPN (plus enabling that should be illegal!)

I'm offering 3-5 ml samples of each my inks. Since the tubes I have available are not pen-friendly, I'll include a plastic pipettor for transferring ink to cartridges or a more friendly container. One sample of each of my inks is available, one per person. First PM gets the color, and I'll try to update availability quickly. Perhaps give a second choice in your message, in case your first choice is gone. And, yes, I know, I have far too many inks, but I do love colors. <img src="https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cloud9.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cloud9:" border="0" alt="cloud9.gif" /> (Note the lack of blacks and other ...serious colors.)

So, up for grabs are:

<b>Noodlers</b>

Habanero

<strike>Legal Lapis</strike> going to ntheo

Golden Brown

Firefly

<strike>Dragon's Napalm</strike> going to brl

<strike>Borealis Black</strike> going to xmattxyzx

<b>Swisher</b>

<strike>Maroon</strike> going to asmith

<b>Private Reserve</b>

<strike>2003 DC Supershow Blue</strike> going to Bearcat

Plum

<strike>Burgundy Mist</strike> going to scutterdav

Purple Mojo

<strike>Orange Crush</strike> going to inBOIL

Sherwood Green

Lake Placid Blue

<b>Levengers</b>

Fireball

Cardinal Red

Gemstone Green

Cocoa

Pinkly

<strike>Amethyst</strike> going to Eskie

<b>J. Herbin</b>

Blueu Pervenche (Periwinkle Blue)

<strike>Poussiere de Lune (Moon Dust)</strike> going to Lloyd

Jaune Bouton D'Or (Buttercup Yellow)

<b>Rotring</b>

Turquoise

<b>Conway Stewart</b>

<strike>Brown</strike> going to 698686

<b>Pelikan</b>

Violet

Brilliant Green

Brilliant Red

<b>Mont Blanc</b>

Green

<b>Pilot Iroshizuku</b>

<strike>Yama Budo (Wild Grapes)- ordered, so may be slight delay.</strike> going to kookychick

US or Canada only.

I thought I should mention why I've tried to Pay it Forward, both in this thread and previously. Not long after I joined FPN, I posted a WTB for a Reform Demo, a pen that I had owned previously. A member sent one to me, at no cost...and included a Recife Crystal Eyedropper. He just wrote that he thought that I'd like it, and I did! I've tried to pay it forward since then.

Kristi

Kristi, what a wonderful and generous gesture on your part! I am inspired.

Okay, my turn...

I have been so blessed by the sweet people of FPN, especially OcalaFlGuy (and Florence) and Mooshisho, that I want to share... I don't have much to give, but here goes.

I recently bought the dip pen set (10 nibs and nib holder) from jbb and tried it, although she did an awesome job with everything, dip pens don't seem to be my thing. So...I would love for someone else to get joy from them! The couple that I tried have only been dipped once or twice and there are many that have never been used. So, if you are interested in trying some dip pens, send me a PM telling me why you should get it and I will decide by tomorrow evening (Friday at 9:00 pm).

The only catch is that if you find they are not your style you must Pay it Forward to let someone else try. :D

(I may regret this, but I am opening this one up worldwide. Nope, you know that I won't regret it at all! It is too much fun to be able to give!) :)

Blessings to all!

Dizzypen, I wish I had met you when I was just starting out. I fit most of the criteria but I feel that the kit should go to someone more new to fountain pens than me. The whole kit sounds so wonderful. I will have to keep an eye on this to see who is the lucky person.

I have to agree; I'm pretty new, but I've already bought all of my new pens from FPN'ers (6 so far) and have gotten a couple of other people hooked by giving them as gifts! This is a fantastic gift, and I hope the newbies find the offer before the deadline!

You have a generous heart, like most of the people here! :clap1:

WOW. The generosity of this forum never ceases to amaze me. Now if only the various governments of the world could be this nice to each other, eh?

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.
