Noob here, two pens, longing for more. Not enough posts and both able and willing to get my own pen, so not asking to be included. Think this is a wonderful idea though! Just wanted to express my thanks and hope the lucky recipients enjoy their new pen!

Thanks!

Just joined because I saw this posting. I'm new to fountain pens - been drooling over some in Fahrney's (in DC) down the street from my office for a while, but still using my cross selectips (with fine felt tipped refills).

My best friend got married this past weekend and gave all the groomsmen Waterman Phileas! So now I have a fountain pen, and have been using it exclusively since Friday night. Would love to have another (more likely several more) to try out before I figure out what I like/don't like and start spending too much money on this new hobby.

Thanks

Jarad

Very generous - hope this helps get 3 more people into the joys of multiple fountain pens with varying character, appearance and technologies.

Great idea Bruce.

For those in the running, the pen Bruce has is a Reform 1745 Piston Fill (German pen) and if it is the same as the one I have, it is what I would consider a fine nib. As for the size, it's about the same as a Pelikan M200 or M215. I have had no issues with mine.

Hello!

This is a great promotion! I've been an amateur calligrapher for a number of years. I have one very old fountain pen and a quill. One of the things that I love most about calligraphy is writing with aesthetic stationary, however I don't have a really nice, good fountain pen. I've been in the market for one for years, but I don't have the money to buy one that I like (because I'm a student).

Everyone I know knows how much I like calligraphy. I have a few friends who have the most beautiful fountain pens I've ever seen, and I drool and pine over them every time I see those pens! So, when my friend (who has one of those pens) saw this deal he immediately emailed me, and I'm glad he did! I registered for this site specifically to partake in this thread.

I saw that this deal was really only open to residents of the USA, but that there may be exceptions. I'm from Canada, but because I would love a pen like this I thought I'd give it a shot.

Here's hoping! Thank-you!

I will be looking for responses until the end of November, so I can review and then get this pen shipped off to the generous winner!

I have a dear FPNer friend South of me (let's call her Florence Nightingangel) who along with me are very thankful for FPN.

We'd like to spread the joy a bit here especially to those just either getting into or back into fountain pens. She has graciously donated the pens and I'll handle the handing them out part.

So, here's the pen (pic snarfled from Fleabay but they look just like this). There are 3 of them, 1 per "winning" entrant. All are still stickered and appear new or uber-lightly used. Piston fill with approx. Fine nibs. I have personally cycled each piston and each does take up water and dipped tested each nib. They all write fine so far as I can tell. The nibs actually do have a big of spring to them with just a hair of actual line variation with some effort. Pens ARE a tad on the thinner side.

Now, "The Deal".

This is meant to be a "spread the joy to the nOObs" deal. Therefore, 1st preference will go to posters with around 50 (or so) posts AND who own *No More than* 2, TWO usuable fountain pens now. (Exceptions more likely made for higher post counts before higher pen counts) Preference will be given to posters with the lowest post/pen counts. Have someone you think might like to try a fountain pen? Have them sign on here and send there first post to this thread, that would likely move them to the head of the class.

We'll let this run until tomorrow, Wednesday at 12 noon, Eastern time.

Send me a PM with how many pens you have and maybe a few lines that might make you stand out from the others. The only thing else requested from those getting a pen is a short note written with it, co-addressed to myself and Florence Nightingangel to show that you are using your new pen. One of the three pens seems to flow somewhat wetter than the other two. Please mention if you'd prefer the usual or wetter pen. (no promises...first come, first served, blah, blah...) PS Preference given also, (sorry, for postage reasons...) to US based members...<barring a very heartwarming story exception...>

Happy Thanksgiving FPN!

Bruce in Ocala, FL and Florence Nightingangel

The 4 Reform 1745's will go to;

Crowdog

jewel7742

smoores

LaydeeMaeve

Please PM me with your mailing adderesses.

Those very observent here will note that now there appears to be 4 pens VS the 3 originally mentioned. Another FPNer who also has a Reform 1745 saw this thread and graciously offered to send theirs in also to be gifted. A most gracious and appreciated offer, and so thusly, the 4th pen.

Thank you to all who participated, I do so wish there were pens enough for everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving To ALL,

Bruce in Ocala, FL and Florence
