The winning entry:

"An Edgar Allan Poe story that would make a great movie is 'King Pest', because it's your classic tale of ghouls and ghosts set in plague-ridden London, with a little comic relief thrown in; perfect Hollywood fodder. It should star Uma Thurman as The Arch Duchess Ana-Pest."

Thanks for the participation!

Thank you kindly, Loren. I'm looking forward to filling it up with tales of horror and suspense (ie. my daily journal).

Btw, a few years ago I drew an adaption of King Pest for an excellent series of books called Graphic Classics (illustrated classic authors). Here's the title page:

If you are interested in reading the rest, just go to: http://www.antonemdin.com/images/portfolio/king_pest_01.jpg and change the number at the end sequentially until you hit 17. Sorry it has no navigation.

Thanks again to Loren, and FPN!

Cheers,

Anton

I have a bottle of Noodlers Highland Heather that I received from another member whose anonimity I shall maintain for fear of reprisals.....

If any UK or EU member would like that unique experience of aghastness (aghastment? aghastivity? - heck, you know what I mean!) on opening a bottle of ink, it's available to the member who gives me the most entertaining explanation of the food you would have to eat to excess followed by a skinful to produce such an awesomely hued 'huey'....... ;) It's nearly full. (I wonder why? ;))

Thanks Ayse! Your avatar has got me thinking I want to dust off my VHS copy of Rock 'n' Roll High School. He he... I love that film. They are such bad actors.

It's really hard to know how to produce something hued like that. I haven't been experimenting much but raspberries with a small amount of blueberries served with a tuna or other kind of fish should give the results I would be satisfied with.

I reckon a beetroot and blackberry sandwich with a side of pickled red cabbage would do it (and, no, I don't want it back, Ayse!)

Come on, there must be someone willing to give it a try? It goes down the sink so I can reuse the bottle otherwise...... ;)

I'm not in the UK or EU, but I'd have to say oatmeal with blueberry moonshine might produce yack that color...

Ew.

Recently I have been the grateful recipient of some unbridled kindness of the paper variety from a fellow FPNer (He knows who he is> Thanks again) and I would now like to share the love, so to speak.

I would like to give two nice vintage English pens, both users not collectors'items, to the first two FPNers who PM me and exhibit the following traits:

1. Date joined FPN of 1 July 2009 or later; and

2. Twenty or less posts; and

3. Convinces me that they own no other vintage pens;and

4. They solemnly affirm or swear that they will write a return "snail" with the pen they receive.

I would like someone new to experience English made vintage pens for the first time.

First pen is a nice Conway Stewart Dandy No 720 in blue marbled pattern including a stubbish oblique nib. Its sacced and ready to roll.(Yes it cost me a bagful but read above - I want to share the love, not clean out my garbage drawer)

Second pen is a "No Name" English pen in a similar pattern that looks about Wartime vintage. Maybe celluloid with a very flexy Warranted 14kt nib. Currently unsacced but I can fix that if someone asks me nicely.

I will foot the postage worldwide.

There may be others to follow and maybe some other fun stuff thrown into the parcel....

Thanks

Jim

The "No Name" is taken by a friendly FPNer who overcame a minor non-compliance with the rules by being extremely nice.

So...no one want to try a vintage Conway Stewart?

I'd love to have a go at the Conway but I'm a few hundred posts over your 20 limit, have been around about 9 months too long and own an Estie and an antique dip pen. However, I am willing to write you some snail mail =P

Always happy to have "snails" with anyone, especially a fellow Aaw-strailian. Hey aren't meant to be typing something else right now Yuki? (Heck I know I am :))

I'll keep the Conway Stewart for a new member but if you would like to PM me an address I may be able to fix you up with something vintage and fun - no, not me.
