Pay it Forward 2009

Well, it's back to school time and I have three student pens to pass on. If you're a student or know one, let me know which (one) pen you'd like. The Pilot 3As are new old stock with EF nibs. They are neat squeeze fillers. The rOtring core has an XL nib and comes with a cartridge to get you started. I'm happy to ship most anywhere via USPS if it doesn't set me back too much. Please inquire by PM since I don't check this thread too often.

Just a question, what Rotring Core version is that? I've got a couple but I don't recall having seen a red one.

it's called rubidium iinm... :)

Okay, thanks. I guess they got snapped up before I got to see that version back when I was buying them. I've got the black and gray version, the orange and something version and a version with blue in it, I think.

What a delightful way to start the morning! Open the mailbox to find two envelopes, one with a new-to-me FP and one with a WW2 era blotter. Thanks saint inky and FredRydr!

The pen will fulfill it's title as a "student" pen, as it will be inked this afternoon and carried to the first day of classes tomorrow.

The blotter goes well with my "I Want You" Uncle Sam poster that was grandfathers... I've gotta get these framed!

Hi everyone,

I have 2 used Kaweco ink rollerball pens available for Canadian FPN members. Postage is less expensive for me then.

They have been used as eyedroppers, but need the silicone grease on the threads replenished, and i don't have any. These also can use the small international size cartridges that are readily available. Besides the cartridges are neater and easier to refill the pen with.

I have read on FPN viscous inks work better in ink rollers. Someone recommended a particular ink that would reduce the line width to 0.4 mm but i can't remember what it was. Otherwise expect it to lay down a broad line.

Send me a PM letting me know whether you are right or left handed and which Kaweco you'd prefer - blue or orange?

I will select two recipients from the messages I receive today.

Regards,

Good morning,

Just a quick note to say the Kaweco ink rollerball pens have been spoken for and i will mail them by Thursday.

:) Chthulhu, the blue one will be sent as you suggested. I hope you see this here. When i tried to reply to your PM a message popped up informing me i could not send another PM until Thursday. It seems i am limited to only one per day.

Can anyone tell me how to increase the number of PMs i can send per day?

Thankyou,

In my experience, the system just prevented me from sending more than one every 5, 10 minutes. A full day's a whole different thing altogether, I think!

Posted this a little while ago in the trade forum, before I realized there was this Awesome Pay It Forward Spot.

I've got a pile of Esterbrook Dip Nibs, Falcon 048's, that yearn to be free.

I've also got a few nibs, maker unknown, but the printing says "Bank of England, Ledger Pen".

PM me with your mailing address. I'll ship far/wide.

If you require more than one 048, let me know.

Thank you very much for the Ledger nibs which arrived safely. I can't wait to dig my nib holders out of storage and play with these.

Kind regards,

I have a blue Parker Slimford which I tried to sell in this thread -

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...amp;hl=slimfold

No-one wanted it and I can't be bothered to put it on Ebay!

It is now up for grabs to the member who gives me the best reason why they should have it now, but didn't want to buy it from me......! The fact that it is free, by itself, will not be sufficient!!

Outcome entirely at my discretion. PM me with your reasons and I'll decide over the weekend. This is available to all members, regardless of location, student status or otherwise!

14 PMs already.....

This could be a hard one to decide......

Ha. You shouldn't have told them you tried to sell it first, now they are all going to hold out till it gets posted here in the future!

I'd like to offer FPN folk this blue Italian 'Universal', discussed here.

It's a very smooth, consistent, precise little writer. It has a leak somewhere - I haven't the nous to find or fix it.

All in all, it's an endearing little pen, but it's just too fine and small for me.

PM me if you'd like it sent.

You could be right there! From now on, anything I can't sell here definitely goes on Ebay!

I've had 20+ replies and I'll keep it open until, say midnight (British time) tonight and I'll make a decision on it tomorrow.

The 'winner' of the Slimfold is Sebastien. Well done to you.

Commiserations to the 21 members who were unsuccessful on this occasion, particularly to the one or two who have become regular correspondents with me here. It would have been easy to let one of you have the pen (and it was pretty close in the end), but I had to be fair and give it to the member who impressed me the most with his her reason.

I'm sure there will be other PIFs from me soon.

Would you believe that caller 11 couldn't use cartridges either? So, caller 12 will get them unless they are also cartridge-challenged (you get the idea!)...

We also have a caller 20! I don't think an ink bottle will be a problem for anyone...

Thanks all for playing!

Pay It Forward yourself sometime (I already have my next one planned... and Christmas is going to be really fun!)

:)

I received the MB Burgundy today and wanted to thank LSmith so very much for doing this PIF. Thank You! :clap1:

ALL BOTTLES CLAIMED!!

I've been the recipient of many kindnesses at the hands of FPNers, so I've decided that it's high time I repay some of it. To that end I have five 1oz. nalgene bottles filled with Thistle Co. Blue-Black to give away.

This is ink that is mixed from powder at 3x the recommended strength. It has been treated with Sterilink, so there is no need to worry about mold. I have used it in fountain pens without incident, but it is up to you whether or not you trust it for such use.

If you would like a bottle please send me a PM with your address. You must be an active FPN member and you must reside in the CONUS.

Bottles will be sent to messages 1, 3, 6, 7, and 9.

Folks shouldn't be afraid of the Thistle Blue/Black ink. I've got some and I've been using it for months now and I haven't had a problem. Using it neat it's just an ordinary ink. I keep meaning to post to the original thread about it, but things keep getting in the way.

So send your PMs and get some!
