Man, I discovered this thread to late. I have been coveting a Sailor 1911 for years!

-----------------------------------PEN HAS BEEN CLAIMED---------------------------------------------------

I have a black w/ gold trim medium nib Sailor 1911m that I really am not ever going to use much. It had a leaky converter but has worked fine with cartridges. No box or papers.

The pen is in perfect condition otherwise and I would like to give it to someone who will use it.

Please don't PM but email to marcayork@aol.com. First reply will have it.

Prefer USA receipients but if you are not in the USA then I will ask that you pay shipping.

I started my collection with a number of cheap pens who have been pensioned off when I acquired too expensive pens.

They are not worth exporting, but any Israel beginner interested in 4 or 5 cheap but good pens is welcome to get in touch with me

I will echo that for any UK FPNer who needs a pen or two, nothing great, some unused and all would work fine.

I have built up a good vintage collection and its time they were put to use.

And remember to leave the other stuff in the quotes (just write underneath all the code) otherwise it looks like you've written it. Welcome!

Okay, my turn. This is a small way to repay the friendship and information that I've found on FPN (plus enabling that should be illegal!)

I'm offering 3-5 ml samples of each my inks.

So, up for grabs are:

Noodlers

Habanero

Kristi

it seems i had to quote you for the reply to go to you? maybe ::shrug:: so i am trying again

please and thank you

First, this is such a great idea!!

Second, I have two pens offered for free (including free shipping). To try and give people a fair chance to claim these pens, I would like to accept PMs from interested people (US only-sorry) until 8 PM eastern standard time Friday (6/5/09). At that time (or soon thereafter) I will assign random numbers to each individual and randomly draw from a hat. I pen per person please.

The pens are:

1. Rotring Core Lysium (w/ converter) XS nib. Pen works fine and is in good condition, just doesn't get the use it deserves.

2. Pen and Ink Sketch pen w/ fine nib. Fairly smooth for a pen of this price (I think I paid about $17). Come with converter. Rarely used.

Please PM if interested.

Thanks.

Hey all.

Doing my bit for karma, I'm offering to make for you, for free, a 100-ish page journal. Might be something softbacked in leather, or maybe case bound, or maybe something a little more retro-medieval, whatever takes my fancy :) But it'll be nice and FP friendly

In keeping with some of the other giveaways, furthest away from me wins. I live in Perth, Western Australia, and anywhere is a long way from us.... ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perth,_Western_Australia )

So using this: http://www.acscdg.com/ just PM me where you're at and how far (in kms - that's metric, people...) away you are. I'll let this run for a few weeks then update with the winner.

Sound OK with everyone?

Les

--- Update:

WOW! I cant believe the number of responses! In the lead so far is PENtup at 18628 kms. The furthest you can be from me (according to wikipedia and the mapping tool) is 19934 unless you're on a boat so Zoe you might want to check that :) Okami, there was no distance in your PM mate :(

It's been a month so here's the current running. As a lot of you have pointed out, more than 20000 kms would be a bit of a problem - unless you're on the international space station or something :)

I've still got a couple of journals to do before I get to this one so I'm happy to let this run a while - keep the PMs coming!

2 items to anyone who can use them:

1. An almost full box (5 cartridges) of Pelikan brilliant red—warning—read the thread on Pelikan red in Inky Thoughts before you claim these. They are an obnoxious orange/red hybrid. Not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach.

2. An oblique nib holder. This wooden holder was given to me when I was looking for one. The grip is a little pronounced. It would probably be better for a non-arthritic writer. You'll either love or hate the grip (kind of like a Rotring Core profile). It is a nice holder and a good way to get started in dip nibs. I'll include one of my favorite nibs.

Both are now spoken for and will be on their way shortly. I need to go through some stuff, but I might have some calligraphy books to follow.

Haha, I remember a few years ago, I did the same thing - from DC, USA to London, UK. It gave me directions to drive to the east, and then get out of my car and SWIM across the Atlantic Ocean. It was a definite source of amusement for a while!

OK, I just have to share this... First off my distance is 18090 so anyone over 18,000 has me beat. Just for fun, I put in my address & Perth Australia into Google Maps and did "Get Directions" and then selected walking directions.

There are multiple crazy things this brought up. First of all is the summary

"Walking directions are in beta.

Use caution – This route may be missing sidewalks or pedestrian paths.

Walking directions to Perth WA, Australia

15,532 mi – about 208 days 14 hours"

This route is definitely missing some pedestrian paths!

Then we've got stuff like this

"1127. Turn right 217 ft

1128. Turn left 0.1 mi

1129. Turn right 0.4 mi"

Yes, steps #1127 - 1129 in the directions. And that's not even anywhere near the end!

To make things crazier, there are a couple steps like this

"1380. Kayak across the Pacific Ocean Entering Australia (Northern Territory) 3,358 mi"

Oh well, at least that's better than the old walking directions to London from America. They used to say to go to New York City and swim across the Atlantic.

The total route looks really weird. Walk across the US, kayak to Hawaii, walk across Hawaii, kayak to Japan, walk across Japan, kayak to Australia, and then walk across Australia.

This is definitely not a trip I'll be taking any time soon!
