I have this in my HiAce (from JetPens) and it is the most flawless ink I've ever used. I use it exclusively for important documents and planning my takeover of the entire world's peanut butter cracker industry.

I use this ink in my Sailor Recruit.

The pen color is a perfect match with the ink, and this combination really rocks!

I, too, have a Sailor HighAce Neo (what a name!) inked with this Sailor blue-black.

It's a very good pen for the price, but I like the semi-flexible nib on the Recruit better.

Anyways, I think Sailor blue-black is the best water-proof ink out there.

I would like to point out that this nano blue black, just like its cousin the Nano Black, is very water proof.

But unlike the Nano Black this ink is not bleed through or show through proof. It has better bleed or show through properties than most inks on good paper but bleeds just like any other ink on cheep paper. I was disappointed in this when I first got this ink....but still very happy that it is very water proof.

And yes...it is an unusual blue-black shade.

A Fine Pen, a fine watch and new shoes to "boot"...ahhhh

I would like to try this new nano ink, although I'm not exactly delighted with black nano ink. It has super smooth flow, but after drying it looks like roller ball ink. And second, not sure if this particles (which can be seen floating in glass of water when cleaning pen) can or cannot harm my expensive or delicate pens.

adam11,

I've used this nano ink on my Edison pens. I can remove the nib and easily clean the nib and feed. Try the blue nano on a pen where you can pull out the nib for easy cleaning. If you want safe inks, stay with the Pelikan or Waterman inks.

Cheers,

Hi,

The appearance on the page is 'unique'. IIRC it was described elsewhere as being stuck to the paper like bugs on fly-paper; and that it didn't position itself coherently relative to the visual plane of the page.

If you are extremely scrupulous about pen hygiene, as I've mentioned previously, then I see no chem/physics problem using the stuff. Just don't let it dry in your pen: that's a real no-no.

Bye,

S1

I have come across Sailor Blue black with brand name "Gentle" at a authorized dealer in India but the sales guys have no idea whether the ink is waterproof or washable and there mention in the bottle either. The bottle looks exactly the same as on the picture in this lead but without the Japanese lettering and is marked "Gentle". The ink is pricey and I have not come across this brand from Sailor so far in this forum. My requirement is a Permanent Blue black but not the Iron gall kind which is pretty dark. Requested advise.

Pbhat,

The new limited inks by Sailor are not waterproof. The Blue Black Nano ink I've review is available here: Engeika. The Blue Black Nano is waterproof as noted in the review. I recommend the next time you shop for ink in the store is to ask the salesperson to let you dip a nib and test the writing sample by soaking it in water. Ask the salesperson to bring you a cup with water.

Good luck with your ink hunt for a permanent blue black.

Thanks, That is helpful. Unfortunately in India Sailor inks are hard to find and if available of limited range. I have not come across the other options. By the way your review was great and the Blue black colour and the hand writing awesome!

The Sailor Jentle inks are not waterproof. I'm not sure if they're washable... so far I have not spilled any on myself. The review is talking about Sailor "Sei-Boku blue-black, which is a special waterproof ink.

It's funny that you are looking for a Japanese blue-black, because when I read the reviews here for Indian inks I always wish I could buy some of them instead of the expensive stuff they sell here!
