In praise of Rhodia's 6x9 weekly planner

reprieve

Recommended Posts

I ordered one of Rhodia's large weekly planners back when they were still fairly easy to find. I filled out a portion of the personal information in the front of the diary as soon as I received it. I used one of my wettest writers, a 1.1mm Pelikan music nib from Richard Binder, filled with Noodler's Golden Brown, and lo'--zero feathering, zero bleed through!

The weekly calendar began this week (December 14th). I've used the planner every day, multiple times per day, with my broadest and wettest nibs and my darkest inks. No feathering. No bleed through. Very little shows at all on the other side of the page--one can barely even tell that the other side has been written on! This is the diary that I've been looking for for years: large enough to record appointments while still leaving room enough for other daily details, with a place for extra miscellaneous notes, slim enough and light enough to toss in a bag when I'm on-the-go, with quality paper that can stand up to my broad-nibbed fountain pens.

I hope Rhodia continues to make this diary for the years to come. I no longer have to battle inferior paper, nor worry about whether my nibs are too broad, my inks too wet!

What a wonderful gift!

I adore the paper in the Webnotebooks as well. I'm wishing for a gridded version in addition to the ruled--that would be absolute perfection!

Starting the planner in mid-December is a nice touch.

Glad you've found the right format!

Yep.

I haven't written a full review on the planner (I have the pocket version) but of 12 Diamine inks tested in various nib widths, no feathering or bleedthrough.

PS - Thanks for reminding me that I can start using it now. :)

I ordered one when the planner was easy to find and I love it. Like reprieve, I have no problems with bleedthrough etc. Ink does take a bit to dry, but since I carry blotter paper inside, it doesn't matter much. I think my only dislike is the cover seems a little soft. It's not flimsy, and does it's job well, I just wish it was a little firmer.

I also purchased one of these planners when they first came out. It's a definite step up from my X-Large Moleskine planner. The cover takes a little getting used to, so I decided that my cover needed a cover. I did some measuring and bought a Levenger leather notebook cover from the ebay Levenger outlet and the whole system is now perfect! I have used several different pens and inks in the planner with no problems--Yay Rhodia!

I too ordered the pocket version. I was disappointed. Even though it is larger than the Moleskine and Ciak that I also ordered there is less daily writing room. Plus, I am not to keen on graph paper for notes. I have decided to use the Ciak (which doesn't have enough writing room for me either) for a pen & ink log book. Since I have discovered that Lamy and MB blue black ink leaves no "see through" on nearly everything I have tried, the Moleskine will do just fine. I think I will use the Rhodia for my retriever training log where the graph will be good for diagramming test set-ups.
