Pen is on hold.

For sale or trade: Pilot Custom Maple

With Pilot's #10 nib (as on the Bamboo and Custom 742) in F.

Inked only long enough to test, tag still hanging from the clip.

Comes in original box with cartridge and new CON-50 converter.

Mint condition = great holiday gift!

$125

Earlier this month, I bid on two of Taizo's eBay auctions closing the same day and won both--doh!--so now I have two great Pilot pens and need only one.

I inked this lovely pen because I could not resist testing it for a few pages. The nib is very fine and firmer than I would have guessed. I flushed the pen thoroughly, allowed it to dry, and returned it to its box.

From what I can tell, the Custom Maple is not sold in the US. Ujuku's pen site offers it for 18900 yen (about $212) plus shipping. I offer this one for $125 including insured Priority Mail in the CONUS.

Photos forthcoming.

Possible trades: Sailor 1911 or Professional Gear; restored Parker Vacumatics or Sheaffers.

First "I want it" PM holds the pen; first payment by PayPal takes it.

Thanks!

Many thanks, Hari, for the kind and generous note!

I should explain what I mean by the "firm" nib mentioned above: this Pilot #10 is smooth--definitely not scratchy--but I was surprised by its feedback; you can feel it moving across the paper. The #5 on my Custom 74 offers less feedback, but it was adjusted by Richard Binder. My uncertainty about the Custom Maple's nib explains the low-ball price.

Thanks for looking!

Photos above as promised: first the Pilot Custom Maple, then a comparison of the Maple's #10 nib and a #5 nib on a chocolate Custom 74.

Pen is on hold.

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks for meeting us this evening for the exchange. My son and I enjoyed meeting you and your wife. We also enjoyed writing with your pens.

I wrote a brief journal entry with the Pilot pen when I got to my wife's parents' house, and am delighted with it! Thanks again for such a smooth transaction, and I hope to see you again next time we are in the area.
