I think I have something wrong with my ears, because I've never been able to hold any pen or pencil behind them. I can rest it there and it'll stay if I don't move my head, but as soon as I turn my head at all, I lose it!!

Umm no, I don't. My glasses (spectacles) preclude that as an option.

Hello,

Well, I think it's a black hole style-wise. A wood pencil, or an Editor/Proofer's peacock blue, only then 'perhaps'.

BUT, there's been so many people asking about how to tote their pens when their garments are without pockets, so: have 1 or more ears pierced, and string sufficient hardware (chains, pitons, 'biners, snowscrews, cams, ...) to attach pens. The 'Ladies' pens with the ring on the cap are obvious candidates for those who enjoy dangling ear things. (Never misplace your cap again!)

An entirely new line of studs & plugs may evolve out of perceived necessity.

Done like dinner.

Best Regards,

S1

No. I work at a desk and therefore it is far simpler to put it there.

If 'm doing DIY and have a pencil then I may put it behind my ear as I would not want to lose it or be in a tight spot only to realise I left it somewhere else.

See my topic "Now for Something Completely Gross" for an example why one should not carry a pen behind (or atop) one's ear!

Thank you for this question I couldn't stop laughing.

Why wouldn't I carry my pens on my ear ?

Well do you think a MB Hemingway looks good or is safe with my ear holding it ?

How about MB Dickens ?

The cap is so heavy its just a matter of the till the pen will fall.

I don't think the Pope would look good or safe on my ear either.

Now there is a great idea! A person who can't get clothes with pockets (or who won't wear them because they are unfashionable) could have something pierced and carry pens on a chatelaine. Think of the conversations that would start - and the rumors, maybe. What fun it would be on an elevator!

Fortunately I have ears. However, I don't carry pens behind them. That was a habit I killed in fourth grade. I now find it uncomfortable, potentially damaging to the pen, and even superfluous considering the prevalence of pockets.

Nope. My FPs are usually too big to fit quite right behind my ears. I mean, physically, they fit, but they don't stay in place, and I'm too afraid to do that in case they fall down.

I would think that there would be a much of a danger of the pen falling if you had it behind your ear. I've had pencils of all sorts, mechanical or wooden ones that have fallen and broken their tips, as well as your rollerball pens. To try this with anything other than a Platinum Preppy would be suicide, but even then it's risking an ink bomb explosion.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
