Bill: you haven't told us the most important part -- which is your favorite? It would also be interesting to know if you have particular uses for these greens.

I only have Sequoia (too black!) and Green Marine (lovely! I don't consider it black-like). Lakeshore Spruce is in the mail. But recently I started tinting Lexington Grey with Sequoia -- it really brings out the mature handsomeness of this ink, without making it appear too black. Lexington Grey is perfect for tinting. I bet if you tinted L.Grey with your favorite green, and then dropwise darkened it with a Black, you would easily be able to find your perfect Green-Black.

Tinting a gray, now that's an idea. Thanks for the suggestion, even though it would involve me buying another bottle of ink. ;)

My favorite among those in the original post is Green Marine. Since posting that scan, I have added Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrun. I use both of these regularly in my pen rotation, mainly for notes to myself, short letters, article drafts and editing. Someone else has reviewed Alt-Goldgrun here, one of these days I will update the scan in this thread to include it.

Nice idea about the mixing. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks!

On my monitor, I can see the slight green in the Zhivago scan. I have a bottle of Air Corps BB and it seems to have more greenish undertones than Zhivago. They are both near bullet proof. Out of Bill's scan, I think Squeteague is the most pleasant color. Dark enough for easy reading, yet with a nice soft edge to it to make it easy on the eyes. And it's pretty too :)

Many people like Squeteague. It is similar to the fabled Diamine Umber ... and a whole lot easier to obtain!

Hi. Thanks for these Billtheeditor. I'm thinking of splashing out on some Green Marine but your scan looks very dark. The Huner Green looks nice but does it come out any darker in different pens?

I need a green for marking/correcting as my red is being withdrawn over here.

Green Marine is dark green. In a very broad pen you will get some shading. Hunter Green stays pretty constant across pen widths, and displays almost no shading.

Here's a color-corrected scan of the two together. Color correction is not perfect. The Hunter Green is slightly more yellow than I could get it on screen.

I have just purchased J.Herbins Vert Olive from a local shoppe.Actually i didn't know amyone local carried it.So after a quick test with a dip pen,i was hooked!!!

I now have three green coloured inks. This one is very nice and my favourite now.The Private Reserve Avacado is nice but is a bit too dark.
