Quo Vadis Trinote Review

Today in the mail I have received a Quo Vadis Trinote Weekly Planner (Dec. 09- Dec. 10) thanks to Karen who runs the Quo Vadis blog page. If you were to go onto the website, you too can receive a planner in exchange for a feedback. I decided to give it a try since I have grown into a life of disorganization and disarray. Being in my first year in college, I believe it is time to get things in order. I usually have important dates saved on the iCal app on my iTouch. Now having a tangible planner I will see how well things will go.

Appearance and Feel: This planner has a nice leather cover that will withstand being thrown into my backpack. There isn’t a “spine” so the planner can lay flat on a surface. Flipping through the pages on the inside it looks like a regular planner. Closer inspection shows the smoothness and quality of the pages.

The first pages are made up; an About me page, International telephone codes, Average temperatures around the world, International holidays, and ends with an overview of the whole year.

The planner as mentioned before is divided by weeks; the week starts from Monday and ends with Sunday spread across two pages. The individual days are broken down by hours. The hours have little intervals for 15, 30, and 45. There is lots of room for jotting your plans, notes, phone numbers, and who you must pay or receive money from.

The last pages in this planner are the helpful ones to me. It consists of maps of the world; each page has it’s own continent with capitals and major cities labeled. They will come handy in my Russian History class.

Writing: The fountain pen, which I used in this planner, is a Pelikan M1000 XXF from Mr. Binder on his wetness scale of 7 out of 10. The ink used is Noodler’s Old Manhattan Black. The label of the Trinote planner shows that Clairefontaine 90gr paper is used in the planner. You can run your fingers atop the page and feel the softness.

To test it out I picked the week that my Winter Semester will start at my college. The start date also falls a day before my birthday; therefore it was the best place to start. The paper in this planner is smooth.

The dry time on the other hand is pretty slow. It took approximately 20 seconds for the words to dry. The little dots I made at the intervals of the hours took longer for some weird reason. When the words took its time to dry into the page there was no feathering at all. I know my Pelikan is a wet writer, so there was a little bit of a bleeding through the page. Don’t get me wrong, the page held very well against my ink. I ran my finger over the words I written and I can feel the strokes I made.

Overall: I think the Trinote is a great planner. It’s more for the businessperson who has something going on every hour of the business week. This planner is refillable, so when 2010 is up I’ll get the monthly instead. The cover makes this planner slim and durable. The paper is fountain pen friendly; I do have to reduce the flow of my pen. It comes with Address Book insert that is made of the same superior paper. This planner is now my best friend that should help me get through college with some organization. I noticed you have some class info listed there. You might enjoy the academic year version of this planner. It is called the Septanote. I have a review of this one that I need to type up.
