Montblanc White Forest 2009 Seasons Greetings ink

I was too late to get the De Atramentis green/fir tree scented, so I ordered a bottle of the MB. I'm looking forward to seeing and smelling it!

here in germany it still costs 29Euros which is about $45 I think. Why is it far more expensive here? Does anyone know how much it costs in England? maybe I could have it shipped cheaply.

It's odd, but I was crazy to buy this ink when it came out - but to be honest although it is a nice green I don't think I'd bother again. I like MB inks as they flow well in my pens - but I think I much prefer the Violet which seems to be suitable for almost everything!

Got my bottle of WF on Sept 1st, at MB boutique (Venice Airport).

 

Here in Italy you can find it only in MB boutiques (and qty was very limited, they received only two bottles).

Paid 11.90 Euro (sumgai?).

 

Very nice ink, I use it in my clear Pilot Custom 823 and my Honey White Parker 100.

 

Scent is nice, but I can sense it only when I uncap the pen and when I refill. Definetely not on paper.

So tried to find this ink here in Cologne. First shop said they got three but the first customer bought all three bottles! Next shop said they never had the seasons greetings inks. Then went to the MB boutique who told me that they didnt get any at all this year and that no boutique in germany got the white forest!!!!! Only the general fountain pen shops got some. Luckily I suddenly thought of another MB stockist, who had recieved the ink and still had 5 bottles. Bought 2! Love the colour but the scent reminds me very strongly of bath oils/essences in my childhood. Seems to smell slightly artificial.

 

By the way the MB boutique confirmed that Racing Green has been discontinued and as soon as the new inks come out, the other inks will be discontinued too except if they havent changed the colour. The bottle will change, supposed to become boxier and more elegant. There will be a new violet colour (flieder in german), there will be a classy grey and a new brown ink. Otherwise I think the BB, Black and blue will be kept on but with the new bottles. Also the ruby red will be coming back. Oh and there will be a new green which was supposed to be called IRISH GREEN, probably a lighter green? The shop said that they have only been notified inofficially 2 days ago of these inks and they will be launched end of the year and should be in the shops, at least in germany, till mid january.

 

 

I have a bottle of the new Irish Green. It is nice colour. Not as flashy as I expected as the new colours were said to be "eye catching". It is darker shade of green (obviously not as dark a shade as racing green). It is a darker shade than the old emerald green and does not have the blue that the old emerald green had. I like it (although I still like racing green better).

I am travelling. I will post a photo when I get back home this weekend. I have not seen any other colour in person.

 

The changed bottle is more square around the edges than the old one and it has 10ml more ink than the old bottles.

I am not sure what the price will be. I received an advance sample. I will take a photo comparing racing green, irish green, and emerald green when I get home.

We would all love to see the new bottle style. Does it still have the boot characteristic?

Before I buy a bottle to write in the books I am giving for Christmas, what were these issues?

 

There was some sort of manufacturing issue that resulted in floaters in the bottle. The bottles themselves were not well sealed (something about the wax paper inserts in the lid) and many people received ink soaked packages.

 

Although I was able to pick up 3 bottles and 15 boxes of cartridges from last year, and none of those 3 had floaters or leakage, so it was either a lucky batch I tapped into, or an intermittent problem. In any case, I have been using this delicious green 3-4 days a week since last year. Buying a couple more bottles just to have plenty...as there is no other green in its "green sub-category" that is as striking IMHO. The scent is mainly noticed when opening bottle.

I prefer the new label. The older labels' color swatches were too small.

I like the new rectangular shape of the bottle and flatter cap.

How close is the emerald green to MB turquoise?

I am happier with Irish Green than I expected I would be. However, it is not as good as my beloved racing green.

 

I am not sure what the new prices will be. I did not pay for mine.
