I don't know about the collectibility of the 252 but for sure it is a great user pen because the nib is a pleasure to write with. I have mine for nearly 15 years and it is still one of my keepers.

I'd say go for it. Any MB pen from the 1950's is worth it. They made great nibs

back then and if you like flexible nibs, then you'll enjoy the pen! While AFAIK

they only came in black, they're still great writers!

The 252 is a very nice little pen. It's the smallest of the series: 252, 254, 256. Slightly larger in girth than a 142. I especially like the winged nib. These were some of MBs first pens made of resin, and they have elastomer piston seals.

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.

thanks, piembi, john and eric (?)--looks like a great buy then. if i don't get it, someone from our pen group in the philippines will, or should (if no one else does, then dang, i will!) by the way, according to my googling, the 252 also came out in green and bordeaux ;)

The 252 is a great little pen. The wing nib on mine has been wonderful to use, right from the first fill, with a stub effect. It also lead to the purchase of a 254 and 256. The 254 is similar in size to a Parker 51. The 256 is a touch larger, and is fatter. The nibs change sizes proportionally among the three pen.

Their upscale cousins are the 64x and 74x pens, with gold, and gold fill caps, with gold, gold fill, green and gray celluloid barrels.

There are anecdotal reports that 25x caps are prone to cracking. I have been lucky I guess. I'd buy it, especially if you're the first in your neighborhood to get one.
