Inking one of my Grail of Grails...

Bryant

I know the feeling . I have a few that I've never inked. I don't see it as a waste or anything. But there is always that nagging and you put yours to rest. Shame others don't share your enthusiasm for MB..shame on them

Thanks

*Beautiful* pen! If money were no object, I'd have one in a heartbeat.

Debbie

Thanks!

What a great pen Bry. I have been thinking, a dangerous thing, that I need to sell a bunch o'pens and start to limit myself. I am concerned that I am crossing the line from user to collector.

You, its whatever floats your boat, or inks your pen! :)

I find that I would rather have have a few pens that dont just move me, but I love, than lots of pens that I think are nice. But thats just me!

stunning :) simply stunning :)

Thanks!

Beautiful pen. Congratulations!

And when it gets home, grab a Visconti traveling inkpot and fill it all the way up, so we can see it at its absolute best.

You know, it was filled to max in the pictures, it actually fills quite well!

Stunning pen! What is the metal frame? And the clear parts?

Do you have a weight on it capped and uncapped?

Its platinum plated, so I would be brass, but Im not sure. The clear parts are clear resin of the precious nature. I dont have weights, but I will do that when I get it back!

Yeah, if its a pen I know I am going to keep, and I ussually know that I will keep it for a while immediately, I ink it right away...

Congratulations Bry - I wonder if I could afford one by selling my 888s? If you get your hands on another....... Cheers,

Are you going to Philly or LA? You can write with in the flesh if you are!

Can I drool over it at the Philly show, too? *hopeful*

Of course!

Hi Bryant! What a beautiful pen.........and everyone has asked all the questions - except this one - how could you bear to let even the best Nibmeister hold it while you were not there??? Not dissing the meister - just wondering how you could let it out of your sight????

Now - do I sell off all my WEs and find one of these????

I agree with your downsizing numbers but finding pens you absolutely love.........that has been my aim for years - but I'm a floozie who can't say no!!!

Have many many years of happy writing with it!

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

I could get my hands on another for sure... But I got quite lucky with mine, I think you might need a bit more than an 888...

Funny you say that... I have... Not to say it will happen, but Im working on it. But one the ripples Im coming out with in a few weeks will be very muck like a Skeleton. Sterling silver over clear resin...

Well, you are right... There was no way I could have let it out of my site, especially so soon, but because I was going on vacation, it worked out. If I was not going away for a few days, I could not part with it...

As for selling all your WEs... I can help with you that... I still have a one WE and 2 POAs, but thats pretty much it. I think it was worth selling whole lots of my pens...

That pen is breathtakingly beautiful.

Just an admiring, respectfull silence. I have to close my mouth manually now..

Wow! Congratulations - not generally a big fan of demonstrators that but is an incredible looking pen.

Hope you will post some photos once she is back from the stub spa :)

The beauty is in its feel, to capture the fleeting thought, in form. Fresh quill arrived today; fitting reward of patient anticipation. Thanks FPN for all the knowledge shared with open expression!

Congrats X a million. :)

Just wondering, do you think that Montblanc would have exchanged the nib under their exchange program for something like an O3B or OBB if you had tried?

I think they would... But I dont think I could let it out of my hands for that long...

I still do the same!

Well, I got it back, but the nib turned out to hard to get out, so the stubbing could not commence as wanted. He did grind it a bit, so it was not so boring, but I was really impatient and wanted the pen back right when I got back from Vacation. So, I had him do a quick grind on it, and it will need to be finished at the Philly show, unless I can tear it away from myself for another week or so... Writes very nice, but not stubby enough...

Bry, to me that nib looks like a standard 149 nib just fully rhodium plated. I don't see any special engraving but I may be wrong.

I would get hold of a O3B nib on a 149 and give it to a jeweler to plate in rhodium (probably only $10) and stick it in your skeleton. This way you can keep the skeleton and use it while the other nib is out being worked on.

I thought of that... Only problem, is I cant get the nib off, and I am not risking breaking it. Thats all I need is a broken feed! That would be great though... I might just send it to Greg... Im still up in the air about it.

Bryant,

For a moderate cost, you can fly, with your pen, to Hamburg for a mini vacation, meet up with Max, have the work done, visit the some forum friends, have a few laughs, some good food and fly back with pen in hand, de-stressed, with the dumbest smile on your face that even the most annoying passport control officer can't peel off.

I would certainly make a whole experience out of it.

cheers

No point in having a pen, however glorious, unless you write with it.

A big amen on that one. I can't imagine having a pen this nice and not inking it and using it. Sin in my book. :)

Well done on getting that beauty ! Early this year I was considering selling many of my pens to purchase just one Grail item which was a gold 149 but I never put the wheels in motion. Still dont know if I should have or not. Also pleasing to see that you are a user as well as buyer of fine pens such as this. A lot further down the ´value´ scale I know but I often carry and use a Charles Dickens with a 0.9mm cursive italic nib and get a lot of pleasure out of using it. Thats what they were made/created for after all.

Enjoy your pen and I suggest that you dont leave it lying around too often or the ´borrowers´ will have that one away in seconds!!

Regards,
