Two great American brands beginning with 'W': Waterman and Waltham

Assuming you haven't been... If you ever come to Boston, the Waltham Watch factory has been converted into an Industrial Museum. Some really great exhibits, including tons of space dedicated to the watch company. They were truly breaking new ground both in production techniques and products.

That is a very nice watch! :) I like the pen too.

What's the diameter of the DJR? I like the clean looking dial.

38mm is a good size and is about all I can handle.... curse of the small wrists :-)

From time to time I look at this topic. What I prefer are those pics with age match: modern or vintage, watch+pen+paraphernalia+background.

Some interesting could be vintage pens+modern watch, but I don't like old vintage watch + too modern pen.

Interesting point. I agree that can be a good way to make a pic... although perhaps a little limiting for the vintage stuff. The story behind the pic could end up being the same each time... sort of like a snapshot of history.

These pics seem to have a few themes:

stuff I carry every day,

stuff I collect,

fetishes,

stuff that is hard to photograph (technical challenge)

stuff that is linked by some other theme

Not many of these pics really get to the point of "still life" and I guess the photographer doesn't always think much about the ingredients in the pic.

My favourite (so far ):

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/6305/smpom7.jpg

There is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat, and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures.
