Cool! I took some pictures of the taken apart nib/feed/section, have to see how they turned out (desk lamp lighting + no macro, keeping fingers crossed...). So yeah, will post them here if they turn out any good.

Slight correction to the info, the "hole" under the the feed actually runs into the section. The end of that depression is round though. I think I mixed it with the feed of the Art Pen, those have a round hole.

I tested and managed to separate the feeds of two of my 600s quite easily using that depression. I think that the first time I did that the feed must have been stuck in place with some residue ink or something because this time they came off real nice.

Here is the underside of the feed. I outlined the depression on the other feed to make it more visible.

great review!

does anyone know, over what period the rotring 600 pens were manufactured? and when the golden version was first introduced? - i'm curious about that, since i bought two old style 600 pens by auction two years ago.

Fantastic! After several years of nonuse I now have a working, perfectly functioning Rotring 600 fountain pen. Years ago I purchased a Rotring 600 Trio, a 600 ball point pen, a 600 pencil and a 600 fountain pen, all silver finish. I never could get the FP to work because I was attempting to use cheap disposable cartridges. I packed it away and left it. Recently, after reading threads here on the fountainpennetwork I acquired an International refillable cartridge. Soaked the “business end” of the pen in a water/ammonia solution for a few hours, dried the pen, loaded the cartridge and WOW! I’ve tried cheaper fountain pens over the years but if they worked at all, they would leak badly or at least leak to the extent that ink would bleed out and cover the nib as I would try to write. This 600 has a fine tip and I love the way it writes. No skips at all. No leaks. One other item I just replaced on this pen is the so called "cap keeper" O ring that keeps the cap on the butt end as you write. I cut a tiny section off of a latex fuel line that I use on RC airplanes. Stretched it into the gap on the pen and it works perfectly. It's translucent rather than the original black, but it works. Guess I could paint the ring with a black Sharpie. I truly appreciate all of the information you folks provide here. When I first acquired these Rotrings, there was no internet to speak of. Now if I can just find a site to get my Trio to function properly. Thanks for the help!
