The April meeting of the Melbourne Pen Group was well-attended by regulars, and new entrants into the fountain pen fetish. I hope that everyone enjoyed my little presentation. The next meeting will be the Second Monday in JUNE, where David will give us a talk on the beautiful Waterman red-ripple hard-rubber pens from the 1920s.

I was one of the new entrants into the fountain pen world that attended last night's Melbourne Pen Group meeting. I really enjoyed your presentation Shangas - truly amazing and very informative. l think l was a little overwhelmed with all the beautiful pens that l saw last night - thanks for making me feel so welcome everyone.

l can see vintage fountain pens becoming my new obsession.

The June Meeting of the Melbourne Pen Group was well-attended, with members new and old. Sadly, Max wasn't with us, but we can't be graced with his presence all the time.

David gave us a wonderful talk about red-ripple hard-rubber fountain pens made by Waterman in the 1920s. A small, but beautiful collection of increasingly hard-to-find fountain pens from the golden age of pen-manufacture.

The Melbourne Pen Show has been set for Mid-November, 2012., at the Malvern Town Hall (until further notice closer to the date).

We will have two more meetings until then. In August, and in October, the last one before the Show.

I won't be in Australia for the August meeting, so this little summary will have to be typed up by someone else, if anyone at all...

On the Melbourne Pen Show website it advises the 18th November for the show at Malvern Town Hall. I've got a weekend leave pass from Hubby and child so will be flying down from Brisbane for my first show. I will be needing some advise about where to stay etc if at all possible a lot of FPN'ers might be staying at the same place / places. This will be so much fun :) Not sure if this is the best place for this question but whilst I'm there I will be wanting to catch up with the Melbourne Pen Group so I thought I would start my enquiries here.

Many thanks

I'm in a constant state of cat-like readiness!!!

Unfortunately, I will be driving back from Cairns on the 18th, and will be unable to attend this year's show. Have a good time, and make sure Shangas behaves himself.

Thanks, I would love to come one day, but it seems that every time you have a meeting I'm in NZ. doh.gif

I have it on good authority that Shangas is currently in London, so behavior will not be an issue. However, he will be available to attend the October meeting, and the Pen Show in November.

Hi MPG People,

Great meeting last night. Thanks to David & James for showing us some of your latest additions. Also Paul, who showed us his quirky pens with interesting feeds & nibs. Always good to see new faces & their unique spin on pen collecting. Next meeting (in Feb '13) is not to be missed. James is going to give us a crash course in finding & purchasing pens on the net. 10 odd years ago, James gave us Ebay 1.01, so don't miss this insightful update!
