i bought a similar haolilai from Todd at isellpens.com a while back, but it was not the 14k nib and the body wasn't resin. it was lacquer over brass in the color red with gold dust clouds. stunning!!! great writer. i don't know why they were discontinued from his site????

although the point is GP steel, it writes buttery smooth!!!

PS the black with silver cap is quite nice too, but the one that resembles the 801f in this review is the red one. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n419/pe...pg?t=1229154906

I bought the Haolilai 801 from Todd because it was a strikingly beautiful resin pen. I use mine all the time and have not seen the problems mentioned in these comments. I love the pens weight, and the feel.

Many pens have something that bites you when you grip them. This pen does not, so it's very comfortable to write with for extended periods of time. I have a number of expensive pens, but none that have the overall pleasing effect of this pen.

If had read the review before purchasing, the anticipation before its arrival would have been intolerable.

Thanks everybody for keeping us informed.

Thanks for your order and we now have 4 pens left.

I received a Haolilai #801F this week as an anniversary present. Beautiful pen! I filled it with Chesterfield Fire Opal ink and it glides over the paper.

I agree, the nib is delicate, and offers a bit of flex. I usually write with a Fine nib, but this Medium works great!

Congratulations on your anniversary and your present. Judging from some of the comments earlier in the thread, you may want to source a different converter. They are ususally less than $10 and may improve your pen performance.
