Noodler's Britannia's Blue Waves

How do you find this ink with regards to flow? Have you had any problems with it drying out in pens? I got one of the first batch and experienced major problems with it drying out causing pens to skip after just a few seconds off the page. I had wondered if the colour would be too pale, but I did like it. I certainly know what people mean about it looking odd in the bottle, you just don't expect to see an ink looking so bright in the bottle. Looks nice, but after initial experiments I haven't risked using it in any of my pens.

I haven't had any problems with it drying out in the one pen that I've used it in so far (a Pilot Custom 74 with a broad nib). In fact, I left the pen filled with the ink but unused for about a week, and it started perfectly when I went back to it.

Yes, I left it for a few days on my pilot custom 98 and it dried out. I had to push a little the converter to get it to write again.

Is there anybody State-side who has a bottle of this and is willing to send me a vial? I am dying to try it but can't fork out the dough now. I will pay for postage and send an empty vial! Or we can do a trade of something.

E-mail or PM me if you want to help a girl out. :D THANKS!!

Looks a lot like the Noodlers Aquamarine. Also Eternal. This was a color made for Swisher Pens by Noodlers.

I'd love to see this up against the Swisher Noodler's Aquamarine.

I just tried it in my new parker duofold and I had to clean it and reload it with noodlers black. This is a nice turquoise, but it flows poorly, making the nib to skip and forcing you to press down to write. I think you'll need an unusually wet pen to use this one!. Maybe one day I'll find one! :bonk:

Just a quick update. I tried mixing 50% of britannia with 50% of waterman south seas blue. It flows much better and it is still a bit waterproof; the waterman washes out but the noodlers remains on the paper.

I like blue colors for work, but I am having no luck with the permanent noodlers. This Noodlers Britannia is a pretty color, but it is not usable. A big dissapointment. The luxury blue works, but it is an ugly lifeless blue. For bulletproofness, I'll stay with the noodlers black. That is a great ink, brilliant black color and well flowing.

Hey tif,

You might try the mix Noodler's makes for Pendemonium called Legal Lapis.

It's a very dark tealy blue. Nowhere near turquoise. :( But an interesting color all on its own.

It does not run at all. And it's listed as bulletproof.

Legal Lapis and another Pendemonium mix called Eternal Brown are my two current favorite inks.

I think both have been reviewed on this list so you could do a search to find a scan of the color.

I agree about the dullness of most of Noodler's permanent blues. (Hmm.... "permanent blues" sounds like a song title). However, I've recently been mixing Boston Brahmin Blue with other inks with some success. One of these makes a fairly nice medium blue with a hint of green, and another makes a very nice dark teal. I've been meaning to scan some writing samples to post a review of these mixtures. I'll try to do it later today.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776
