Nibs

I just took this dusk shot by the window. (Shame the tip is out of focus - I wanted the crisp 'Pelikan' line.)

Nicely done, Damon. And the angle of the writing and paper lines complements the angle of the pen, perfectly.

Thanks, Rena. I'm pretty sure it's a fluke!

What kind of ink is that? I'm assuming the writing and the pen go together? Nice!

Thanks, Stephen. Yes, the writing and pen go together. That's the first draft of a book chapter, written in a Clairefontaine spiral notebook, with a Pelikan M215 M, in Waterman Florida Blue ink.

(Just in case you were wondering. if not, excuse the unnecessary pen-nerd information.)

That is a handsome nib! I so wish that MB could revive the flattop 130-series into regular production - a 136 and a 139, at least.

Thanks Highbinder, I'm very happy with that shot too, and yep that is a Custom 823 F nib. When I first got it I was very disappointed with how dry it wrote- so it sat in its box for a number of months. However, Just recently I decided it'd be better to try and fix it than to have a useless pen. To my surprise the fix was very easy, and I think it's my favorite pen now! The feel of the nib, precision of the line, and wetness are even better than Sailors F, which was my former favorite. On account of the filling mechanism, ink capacity, looks, and nib I definitely recommend it. Although I have actually had two of them, and both nibs wrote exactly the same out of the box, so if you get an F be prepared for a slight tweak if you don't like how dry it writes.

I think I'll be going for a B nib rather than an F. ATM I'm perfectly satisfied with my F nibbed pen (Varuna with a Sheaffer lifetime nib) and if I end up getting an F nibbed Japanese pen (as they have a great reputation) I believe it'll be a Nakaya further down the line. Also seems a pity to have a pen with such a huge ink capacity to 'only' have a nib that drinks conservatively. Big ink capacity to me equals all the more reason to have a big wet line being put down :roflmho: Plus if I get a B I can have it ground into a stub :puddle:
