Today I spent almost the whole day to collect almost all (or most) of my regrinding nibs in one place. So if anyone is interested - welcome: http://lenskiy.org/2023/01/my-nibs-grinding/

Thank you!

Indeed, I'm always interested! ;)

While I did many nib grindings for my own use, and for my own pleasure, I hesitated to grind one to UEF. I'm brave enough to grind a MB limited edition pen before first use, but not brave enough to make an UEF.

May I ask: how many trials did you need for your first successful UEF nib?

One life!

It's probably hard to say now, just when I started I didn't set the goal of making 0.15-0.2mm. At first, I made it thinner than I have, used it a little, realized that it was not enough, and made even less, etc. But I can say that one of the first conscious orders at UEF was ground to order, but I liked it so much that I persuaded the owner to sell me this pen. And this nib with pen turned out to be so beautiful that this pen is perfect for me through many years and I have been drawing with it to commission for almost 5 years)).

ps: in all the time I've been working with nibs, I've only damaged 2 nibs (on the start). The first was mine, and the second had a hidden defect (cavity in metal) and lost part of the tip after a week of use after ground.

Thank you!

One day, somewhen, I will try! :)

Can't repeat often enough: I love your drawings, both types, the faces and all the other motives!

All the best to you

One life!

Just something I put together during a moment of boredom… 14k BB nib in a 1950 (or so) Pelikan 400 Tortoise. The ink is Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the year: Star Ruby (2019).

Line width with light pressure is around 1.1-1.2 mm, with moderate pressure applied it flexes to something like 1.8-1.9 mm. I don't like to flex those nibs though, I just enjoy the soft writing experience that kind of flexibility provides.

Depending on the condition/wear they can be anything from sharpish cursive italic (factory fresh) to a stub (worn down with use).

That one is slightly worn so somewhere in between. It provides very nice line variation without flexing, kinda wet for my tastes but... yeah. Really like it with the right ink.

All in all, my favourite type of a nib in my almost favourite Pelikan (#1 would be the 100N/101N series pens).
