This nib writes beautifully with your alterations! Of course your wonderful handwriting makes every nib look good.

Also, thank you for sharing such a touching story. I always look forward to reading your posts and the stories behind your sketches.

Not sure if this is the place to put this but, hopefully this isn't intruding.  Snagged this one that arrived today from Singapore; looks like it'll be fun. According to the box label, it is a Wm Mitchell [flexible] Music Writing nib, made by British Pens, Ltd of Birmingham & London.

Was very surprised when no variation of the ID turned up in a search of FPN.

Anyone know of them/it?

I got 99 problems but a BIC ain't one!

If I said I'll fix it, I will. There's no need to remind me every 6 months.

I love all these nib photos. Maybe it's time to break out the photo gear and try a few myself.

Oops, I kinda borrowed mine. It's from the auction, & it had just barely made it out of the envelope & no camera was handy, so...

Was deeply curious at what I might have here, & again, very surprised nothing turned up from these hallowed halls.  With the reservoir, I'm thinking dippers, but no chance yet to clean & play with it. Time will tell.

Here's the current version of that nib:

I hope that you didn't pay too much for it. Current price: $2.50 USD.

Dip pen nibs are disposable; they have no tipping material and wear out quickly.

Tres nice, Frank! Looks like you nailed it. Thanks!!

I'd never seen one before. I barely caught something in your pic, blew it up to max size, & looks like there're 2 tiny 'cuts' where the reservoir (like on mine) would mount. Wonder if that's the design, or an innovation, or the reservoir was designed so as to take advantage of those cuts & their location. [Might be one of those 'Chicken or Egg' situations! LOL]

Oh and, of COURSE I paid too much for it!  That reservoir's an extra $20!! And then, the shipping from Singapore, Customs, Taxes, Insurance, Pedicure, & per diem &c -- you know how it goes.

Dip pens are made for reservoirs; they just clip on. I didn't look too closely, but sometimes they're available separately. If not, I just modify one from another dip pen to work—or just dip more often. A music nib can deliver lots of ink.

Just as in fountain pen nibs, vintage ones are much better than modern ones, so it is the same in dipping nibs. I have quite a lot of dip nibs, so I know what I'm talking about)))

There are all kinds of know-how for a larger dip nib capacity. Firstly, the ink holder can be made from any can of beer or coke (tin), secondly, springs from automatic ballpoint pens are very suitable for it.
